2 Getting to the Conference From the City The 470 bus runs from Elizabeth Street near Martin Place Station and stops outside the church. From the Eastern Suburbs and inner west The 370 bus runs between Leichhardt and Coogee and stops outside the church. Rozelle Bay station and Jubilee station on the light rail are a 15 minute walk from Village Church. If travelling by train, alight at Stanmore Station. The walk is approximately 20 minutes. For those travelling by car, some free parking is available on the streets around Village Church. 5 Keynote Speaker Profiles The Rt Revd Dr Greg Anderson Greg Anderson is the sixth Bishop of the Northern Territory. Previously he was Head of the Department of Mission at Moore Theological College, Sydney ( ). From 1995 Greg and his wife worked in the Northern Territory as missionaries with the Church Missionary Society. Greg trained Indigenous church leaders at Nungalinya College and was Indigenous Ministry Development Officer for the Diocese of the Northern Territory. His interest in the Aboriginal church began when he was researching the traditional music of central Arnhem Land. Greg is an able expositor of God s word and a compassionate pastor of God s people, whose intellectual acumen and missionary heart has been a blessing to the people of the Northern Territory. Greg is married to Annette and they have four children. Apart from church involvement, they are very involved in music activities and fitness.
6 Keynote Speaker Profiles The Revd Simon Gillham Simon Gillham is Head of Department of Mission and Director, Centre for Global Mission at Moore College. He has previously served with CMS as the Acting Principal of Namibia Evangelical Theological Seminary, in the Diocese of Newcastle and also planted the Maitland Evangelical Church. Simon has experience in pastoral ministry, church planting and theological education in a cross-cultural context. Simon is currently working on a PhD on theological education and has been involved in a number of consultations in Angola, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Kenya. Simon is passionate about cross cultural gospel ministry. He is specifically interested in international mission work, ministries among Australian Aborigines, reaching people from ethnic minorities, ministries in remote and rural areas of Australia and ministries for working class men. Simon is married to Margie and they have two university-aged children, Maddie and Noah
7 BCA Staff Profiles The Revd Neville Naden The Revd Neville Naden is BCA s first Indigenous Ministry Officer. He previously served in Broken Hill leading the Living Desert Indigenous Church from Together with his wife Kathie, Neville seeks to support those at the coal face who minister to our First Nations people, many of whom live in rural and remote areas. Neville also provides support to BCA s Indigenous staff and walks alongside people as they think through the how to of ministry to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders. He will be keeping an eye out for emerging Indigenous Christian leaders and finding ways BCA can help them take the next steps into ministry. The Revd Andy Goodacre Andy Goodacre has worked as a pioneer minister in the Anglican Diocese of Tasmania since Andy and his wife Liz lead the church community at St Barnabas Anglican Church (Barney s) in the northern suburbs of Launceston. Barney s focuses on being God s missionary people to their local area through missional activities which range from mentoring high school students, to bushwalking and reaching the university campus. Their main focus is seeing all kinds of people, from children to university students to retired people, grow as disciples of Christ, helping them to develop the vision and skills required to be pioneering missionaries into the future.
8 BCA Staff Profiles The Revds Brian & Ali Champness Brian and Ali Champness are the Directors of Children s and Families Ministry with the F5 congregation at St Saviour s Cathedral in Goulburn. They became BCA Field Staff in July 2015 and have recently planted Rocky Hill Church in East Goulburn. Brian and Ali teach Special Religious Education (SRE) in local primary schools. They also provide counsel and care for marginalised families, including before and after school clubs for local children and assisting rural churches with their children s ministry. Before establishing their ministry in Goulburn Brian and Ali worked as Children s and Families Pastors in the United Kingdom. The Revd Dr Mark Short Mark Short has been National Director of The Bush Church Aid Society of Australia since taking over the position from The Revd Canon Brian Roberts in Mark studied theology at Moore College and the University of Durham and has served in local church ministry in Temora, Wagga Wagga and Tarcutta. Mark and his wife Monica are passionate about proclaiming the gospel in regional and rural areas of Australia and encouraging the growth of healthy, mission focused churches.
