1 Christian Visitor Volume 68 ~ Issue 38 ~ September 29, 2015 Church Telephone: ~ Fax: ~ Website: Office Hours: Mon. ~Thurs. 8:00 a.m. ~ 12:00 p.m. / 12:30 p.m. ~4:30 p.m. ~ Closed on Friday Senior Pastor: Gary Benjamin ~ Phone: ~ gary@fccgarnett.org Youth Pastor: Chris Goetz ~ Phone: ~ chris@fccgarnett.org Secretary: Marsha Dulin ~ Phone: ~ marsha@fccgarnett.org Growing, Sharing, and Serving Together FROM THE PASTOR S DESK: WITH THE APPROVAL of the congregational July 22, 2014 vote to accept ~ Volume the New 68 Building ~ Issue Plan 29 for our proposed Family Life Center the Building Committee has met with the architect to start moving forward with more complete plans. The next step is for the architect to prepare the necessary plans and documents that will allow contractors to bid on the project. The most often asked question at this time is, When will we start building? We don t have a clear answer to that yet, but it will take several months for the planning and bidding to be completed, so we are looking at some time in 2016 if everything goes on schedule. We will certainly keep you informed throughout this process. As mentioned last week, the Elders continue to work on selecting a candidate for our Senior Minister position. It seems like a slow process, but they want to get it right and choose the best candidate available for your consideration. It s always a difficult decision and must be made carefully, so please continue to pray for the Elders and pray that they will know God s will for their choice. You, as a congregation, will have the opportunity to approve or disapprove of their recommendation. Personally, I would like to thank the Funeral Dinner Committee for the fine ministry they provide for families with a luncheon on the day of their loved one s funeral service. This allows the family to gather together to share some time with each other without the pressure of finding a place to meet and someone to provide a meal. This Committee works hard to provide this service and it is greatly appreciated. Blessings to you all Gary B First Christian Church Family Life Center Growth Chart Building Addition ~ $900,000 NBF Cash on Hand ~ $627,407 Pledges yet to be received ~ $158,259 Projected NBF Balance ~ $785,666 September 2015 General Fund and Building Fund Giving Christ loved us and gave himself up for us a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God. By Pastor Chris Goetz Scripture: 2 Co 4:16 18: Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.

Committee Members: Roger & Phyllis Adams, Catie Friend, Natasha Goetz, *Carmen Powls & Jenna Wight Light the Night Saturday, October 31st from 6pm to 8pm Last year, we attracted a little more than 1000 people to our Light the Night with Christ Celebration! This year Halloween falls on a Saturday night which usually means an increase of people. We have a great responsibility in our community to LIGHT THE NIGHT WITH JESUS in the midst of this rather dark holiday. This year FCC staff asks that you keep this year exceptionally free from any DARKNESS in the trunk-er-treat displays or in your costumes. I am excited to see who God brings to this event this year. I hope you will join us for an outstanding time of fellowship, but also help us to make a non-verbal stand in saying that Halloween doesn't have to be a dark place because Jesus reins above all darkness! As we grow with this event I need people to sign up to decorate their trunk or truck bed! Please sign up soon so we can plan well. Please also plan to eat with us! Gene and Gail Watson are going to provide a meal for every person who wants to eat! Please support this event by: 1. Decorating a trunk for the trunk-er-treat portion of the event. 2. Donate Candy! 3. Help in the kitchen to support the meal, distribute candy & serve Hot Chocolate 4. Set at the introduction table and give out special gifts as a symbol of Jesus to our students. God Bless you and Thanks for your support! Chris Goetz
