3 Y O U T H i n A C T I O N West End youth spent the all of the week before last at the Southeast Regional Youth for Christ Conference in Statesboro, GA. They participated in class lessons, youth-led devotionals, competed in speech competitions, a fashion show, sports activities, and games on the campus of Georgia Southern University. Your generous donations to YIA made this conference possible for our young people. E D U C A T I O N M I N I S T R Y Summer Quarter Classes are underway for Youth and Adults. Fall Quarter Outlook Preparing for Move to Renaissance September Theme - Trusting God in Transition Sundays - One Adult Bible Class featuring lessons in preparation for transition. Wednesdays Focus on revival with guest ministers and motivational messages related to our move. Thomas Servant Leaders Part 2 - Members of the 6-8 Grade middle school Bible class studied part 2 of Jesus and being a servant to all (2 Timothy 2 and 1 Peter 4). The class ventured to put the study to action by doing cleanup work in the area down the block from the church building. Last Wednesday, they celebrated their efforts to others by being treated to a hot meal and beverages in class. They then began a new study on The Divinity of Christ, and how to become God s possession. Please bring your children to Bible classes on Sunday at 9:45 a.m. and Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. Coming In August Education Ministry Bible School Survey Sermon Series You can buy a sermon series by Dr. Heyward from the OJH Resource Table in the foyer. Visitors and members with infants and young children can immediately take those that are talkative, crying, or otherwise irritated to the nursery located outside the auditorium. What may sound okay to you may be disturbing another s ability to worship properly. You may take them out at any time - even during times of congregational prayer if necessary. Youth Mental Health First Aid Training - September 29 from 9 a.m. 5 p.m. - The Training and Development ministry is offering formal instruction for West End adults to become trained as Mental Health First Aiders. Become aware of the warning signs of mental health challenges common among adolescents including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, ADHD, and substance use. The course costs $25 and only 30 slots are available. Register online at
