Faith Promise Sunday... The United Methodist Youth Home, based in Evansville, has been providing appropriate care and instruction to help vulnerable young men and women (ages 10-21), from all over the state, become responsible and productive members of their local community. Know someone who needs recognition? or call in information to the church office for inclusion in the Mid-Week News and monthly Newsletter. Some of these young people may have been sent through the Department of Child Services, and in many instances had been removed from their families for a variety of reasons. They may have a psychiatric diagnosis, such as Conduct Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, Depression, or a Personality Disorder. Others may have histories of running away, truancy, substance abuse, family stress, and dysfunction. Some of the youth simply need a structured setting in which to develop social skills, respect for authority, self-control, and problem-solving skills. There are three specific programs on the campus; Truancy Intervention, Day- Treatment and Residential Treatment. Their Developments Officer, Travis Johnson, will be coming to FUMC on Faith Promise Sunday, 19 February, to tell us more about this amazing program and how we can be involved. February will be bringing in some changes for our modern worship service. Worship First will only meet the 1st & 3rd Sundays of each month at the same time, 11:45 am. On the first Sunday, we will enjoy live music from our Worship First band and share a meal. The 3rd Sunday will be our usual fare of coffees, teas & snacks to go with the message. Join us on February 5th; we will be serving soup and sandwiches, and tea, lemonade, and coffee. Lunch will be available from 11:30 am through the service! Thank You... To our Church Family, It has been a long journey but we just got the results of Arlene s last CT scan and were told that things have not changed from her last scan and blood tests. To this info, we are very relieved and grateful. She is holding her own and the cancer is in remission. For all this, we give thanks: for all the visits, cards, food items, flowers, phone calls, and most of all, for all the church family s prayers. Many times we were more in need of your prayers and God s intervention, than anything else. It is very comforting to know that He is still in charge. May God bless you all for your kindness and support. Arlene & Dan Wolven Thank you so much for the generous donation of different clothing items for our students! Your thoughtfulness is out of this world! 4 R to L: Jay Bardole (Lay Leader), Paul Wagner (Sr. Pastor), Jennifer Baumberger (Financial Secretary/Treasurer), Sabrina De Vries (Administrative Assistant), Ede Mattison (Nursery Attendant), Patrick Schutz (Director of Children & Youth) and Dan Miller (Director of Music).
