In the past 12 months, 12,403 students graduated from Disciples institutions.

2 FAMILY LIFE CHILDREN, YOUTH AND FAMILY EVENTS FUN & FELLOWSHIP Fun & Fellowship has concluded its meetings for the Fall. We will start back up again in the Spring along with Pastor s Class. Details TBA! C.H.A.O.S. CHAOS has met for our last regular meeting for the Fall. There are lots of things happening in December so our only meeting will be for our Xmas Party! Details TBA! CHILDREN & YOUTH COUNCIL Our next Children & Youth Council meeting will be on Tuesday, November 28th, at 6:30pm, in the Boka Keene room. We will be discussing some specific needs of the Children s program, looking at the Spring Calendar, and working specifically on Christmas Family Workshop. Whether you have never been to a C&Y Council meeting or are a long-standing member, we would love to have you! Contact Amber with questions. DRAMA TEAM Drama Team is nearing the end of their rehearsal schedules as the Christmas show is rapidly approaching! Our shows: Our Chaos, His Peace, and What Christmas Means, will be on Sunday, December 10th, at 6:00 pm. Our Children s Choir will be singing Christmas carols in between shows that evening as well! Please stay after and enjoy some Christmas snacks in the gathering area, as well as a chance to greet a surprise visitor! If you would like to bring a snack to share that would be wonderful! DRAMA TEAM REHEARSAL SCHEDULE 11/ pm 12/3 4-6 pm 12/9 Dress Rehearsal 8:30-11:00 am 12/10 Performance 5:30 call time, 6:00 show time CHILDREN S CHOIR Our Children s Choir will be singing some Christmas Carols for us in between the two one-act plays the Drama Team is performing on CROP WALK December 10. If you have a little that would like to sing with us (no age minimum) please bring them to the Little Kitchen on December 5th and 10th during the Sunday school hour to practice! Please contact Amber Brooks or Kara Gregory for more information! The Edmond CROP Walk brings together local churches to raise money to fight hunger and poverty, and this year was no exception. More than 100 hearty walkers braved the cool Fall wind, including 29 from SHCC. Also on hand were representatives from CROP Walk Beneficiaries: Church World Service, Breakfast on Boulevard, Edmond Mobile Meals, Project 66 Food Pantry and Samaritan House. Edmond CROP Walk Treasurer John Gauldin is still receiving donations through November, but reports more than $7000 raised so far. Fall is such a busy time for our church with Pumpkin Parish, Trunk or Treat and Alternative Christmas. Thanks to the SHCC Walkers and generous SHCC donors who always make the CROP Walk a success that shares God s love in Edmond and around the world. With great thanks for such a wonderful congregation, Don Hurst & Cindy Treadway Some of SHCC s Walkers (seems we can never all be in the same place at the same time!).

4 LITURGISTS NEEDED Sunday morning Liturgists are needed for December. In traditional service the role of the Liturgist is to read scripture and lead the Call to Worship. For Contemporary Service the Liturgist reads the scripture. There is a sign up sheet in the Gathering Area near the front office window. GOOD FOOD, GOOD FRIENDS, SHARING HEARTS Thank you for coming to our 32nd annual Alternative Christmas festival! You turned out in force to purchase handmade Christmas cards to support our non-profit agencies, shop for fair trade gift items from all over the world, and to share some delicious food and fellowship around the tables. Thanks to all of our card makers, table workers, kitchen helpers, food providers, cashiers, decorators, and our hardworking outreach committee. If you missed this event, we will have some of the cards on sale in the Gathering Area next Sunday, and a final total of money raised in the next Sharing Tree. THANK YOU! Dear Friends, Your prayers and notes of support during my recuperation are appreciated so much! It is truly a blessing to be part of such a loving church family. Sincerely, Evelyn Elliott WOMEN S ACTIVITIES Disciple Women s Hope Group meets Monday, December 4, 7:00 pm at the home of Myrna Ranney. Service project will be HOPE Center Family and toys for LCDA. 5 CALLING ALL SANTAS! We are making progress in providing Christmas gifts for our 3 children related to Refuge Fellowship. We have a 3 month old baby girl, and two boys ages 9 months and 2 years. Some of their mothers requests are as follows: sweater, walking toys, sippy cup, Pampers and wipes, baby toys, big trucks, and a tricycle. A generous family has already purchased quite a few clothes. Other age appropriate gifts are welcome, but these are our priorities. Watch for a Christmas tree in the Gathering Area with ornaments listing each child s age and needs. You may take an ornament, shop, then return the ornament and unwrapped gift by Dec. 10. Please call Marilee Hattendorf for more information. SAVE THE DATES Join us Sunday, November 26, following contemporary service, to Deck the Halls in preperation for the Advent and Christmas Season. We will be preparing the Sanctuary and Gathering Area. Pizza for lunch will be provided. On Sunday, December 3, join us for The Hanging of the Greens Unified Service at 10:45 am. Sunday School will be at 9:30. CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICE SCHEDULE This year, Christmas Eve happens to fall on a Sunday. With the busy nature of the holidays, and the prospect of having four services that day, the Worship Committee has decided to have one Candlelight service at 6:00 pm. We plan to return to early and late candlelight services next year. The Christmas Eve morning services will follow the usual Sunday schedule of 9:00 am Traditional and 11:15 am Contemporary, with Sunday school at 10:15 am. LATINO COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT AGENCY TOY DRIVE If babies are not your speciality, we have also participated in the LCDA s toy drive for the past several years. Reniery Espana has already brought us a big box that will be placed in the Gathering Area to receive new, unwrapped toys for children up to 11 years old. So, if you d like to be a Santa or an elf, there are plenty of opportunities around SHCC. Thank

6 Special Thanks to John Gauldin for his leadership as treasurer (opening and closing the patch daily), in-kind donations, and countless unseen efforts to make this year s Pumpkin Parish a success. HELPING THE HOMELESS Thanks to SHCC s Pumpkineers! A lot of time and effort went into unloading, moving, removing spoilage and selling of our pumpkins. Here are the numbers: More than 70,000 pounds of pumpkins More than $40,000 in sales More than 100 Pumpkineers staffed more than 225 hours in 29 days More than 1000 visitors felt the spirit of SHCC More than $13,000 donated: $ each to Central Oklahoma Camp, Habitat for Humanity & SHCC Youth & Children s Programs and $ to SHCC Disciples Men None of this would be possible without SHCC s INCREDIBLE Pumpkineers. Every person. Every shift. Every day. Deepest apologies if we missed anyone.
