13 Pray without Ceasing. Models of Holiness in Prayer: St. Teresa of Avila and St. Ignatius of Loyola St. Teresa of Avila was born in Spain during the year She was canonized in 1622 and declared a Doctor of the Church in St. Teresa, who experienced many visions, had a very mystical outlook on prayer which she details in her writings, The Interior Castle, and The Way of Perfection. One prayer attributed to her called St. Teresa s Bookmark may be a good prayer to pray with students and families. St. Teresa s Bookmark Let nothing disturb you, Let nothing frighten you, All things are passing; God only is changeless. Patience gains all things. Who has God wants nothing. God alone suffices. St. Ignatius of Loyola was a Suscipe Spanish knight born in 1491 who became the founder of the Society of Jesus, also known as the Jesuits. He is also the founder of a school of prayer and What spirituality the Catechism which he says outlined about in prayer: his book Spiritual Exercises. A Everything is yours; , 2698, , 2745, 2457, Basically all of part 4 beautiful prayer written by St. Ignatius is the Suscipe, which means Receive in Latin. Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding and my entire will, All I have and call my own. You have given all to me. To you, Lord, I return it. Do with it what you will. Give me only your love and your grace. That is enough for me. For me prayer is a surge of the heart, it is a simple look turned towards Heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy. Prayer is the oxygen of the soul ~St. Pio of Pietrelcino ~St. Therese of Lisieux Prayer should be the means by which I, at all times, receive all that I need, and, for this reason, be my daily refuge, my daily consolation, my daily joy, my source of rich and inexhaustible joy in life. To Saints, their very slumber is prayer ~St. John of the Cross ~Saint John Chrysostom The chief service I owe you, O God, is that every thought and word of mine should speak of you. ~Hilary of Poitiers Remember God more often than you breathe. ~Gregory of Nazianzus Games: Name that Prayer:
