3 Dear Friends: The Diocese of Hamilton Youth Ministry Office, along with The Catholic Youth Organization invites you and the youth of your parish/ school to the Diocesan-wide Youth Rally! The rally will take place on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at CYO's Camp Brébeuf, Rockwood, from 9:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. This year the theme of the Youth Rally is BE. Mary rejoiced upon the news that she would be the Mother of God, and so do we rejoice as we grow to understand and celebrate the ways in which we are called as well to BE in the world. The Angel Gabriel told Mary, Do not be afraid you have found favour with God. (Luke 1:30) So too should we live without fear or anxiety, for we are chosen and sent for a purpose. The day-long event will consist of a Keynote Address from Katie Prejean and music from A Guy and A Girl. Interactive workshops will keep us up and moving all afternoon and we will conclude our day with the Celebration of the Eucharist, a barbeque and a campfire. We are inviting young people in grades 7-12 from each of our parishes and schools to participate in this highly anticipated event. Registration is $20.00 per participant. The registration fee includes access to the grounds and activities as well as meals, workshops and supplies. Both chaperones and students must register online as per the instructions in this registration kit. Online registration will be made available on the Diocese of Hamilton website on January 26 th, If your community is unable to take a group of youth, but still have young people who would like to attend, we ask that you contact our office. We will then connect you with your deanery representative who will make the necessary arrangements. May 26 th, 2018 will be an inspiring, encouraging, and empowering celebration during which everyone will feel God's abounding love. Since 2007, Katie has been traveling throughout the U.S. and Canada sharing a unique blend of humor & storytelling, coupled with teaching theological truth, to engage audiences of all ages. Katie has spoken at events large & small, including Steubenville Youth Conferences, the National Conference for Catholic Youth Ministry, Los Angeles Religious Education Congress & Youth Day, in dioceses & parishes from New York to Sacramento, & has appeared on EWTN, Catholic TV, Radio Maria, & the Busted Halo Show on Sirius XM. Katie has her degree in Theology from the University of Dallas. She is married to Tommy McGrady & lives in Lake Charles, Louisiana with their daughter, Rosie, & dog, Barney. Room 24: Adventures of a New Evangelist A Guy and a Girl Jesse and Kathleen LeBlanc met and began playing music together in December 2012 at the suggestion of a mutual friend. Their musical chemistry took off as they entertained in local venues, and led worship for many youth ministry and archdiocesan events. Recently married, they continue to bring joy to their audiences through their quirky personalities, upbeat music, creative harmonies, and most of all, their love for the Lord. As they recently moved from Langley, B.C. to Hamilton, Ontario, they are looking forward to a new chapter in God's great adventure.

6 Participants are asked to choose two different workshops to participate in during the afternoon. Please have each participant s workshop selections on hand when registering your group online. Please note that workshop spaces are limited and fill quickly. To ensure your group is registered for your first choices, please register early. (Please note, workshops are subject to change.) BE Well: Do you find your day is so busy that you never get a moment for yourself? Are you burdened by the responsibility of school, family and relationships? Do you find that you have enough time to take care of yourself well so that you can care for others? Psalm 37 challenges us to take time to rest in the Lord. Teresa Hartnett, Director of Family Ministry for the Diocese of Hamilton will be joining us to share her wisdom on how we can be caring for ourselves as temples of the Lord. As Sons and Daughters of God, made in His image, how are we called to care for His creation and glorify him in our personhood? BE Loud: Sing with joy to the Lord! St. Augustine tells us that when we sing we pray twice. Join our musical guests, A Guy and a Girl to learn more about the importance of music ministry within our liturgy and how to lead worship effectively in your parishes and schools. This will be hands on, interactive workshop involving instruments, song and praise. All musicians and vocalists, regardless of capability are welcome! BE GR8! Grade 8 can be an overwhelming and scary time, especially when looking forward to that first big day of high school. John Schneider, Elementary School Chaplaincy Leader for Waterloo Catholic District School Board will be inspiring our young men and women preparing for high school to BE not afraid and will share some tips and tricks to living a Christian identity in high school. This workshop is suggested for those in Grades 7 and 8. BE Social: Put your phones down for a second and listen up! The world is at our fingertips these days when it comes to social media. If we re not sending a snap, we re liking a post on Instagram or retweeting our favourite celebrity. Here s the question, who are we called to BE on social media? We have the power to use this media to share the Gospel! Come and join our keynote, Katie Prejean to learn more about what it means to be a Catholic presence on social media and how you can spread the joy of our faith online! BE Faithful: Mary, Mother of God is at the centre of the theme of this year s Rally and so it is only fitting that we celebrate her and the beautiful gift that is the prayer of the Holy Rosary. Participants will learn how to make rosaries and then why and how we pray the Rosary! Come away and pray! BE a Leader: Our Lord challenged his disciples to go out to the whole world and make fishers of men. How are we called to evangelize our friends in our classrooms, our teammates or even our family? How are we called to be leaders in our faith and in our world? Join a very special guest for a motivational presentation about how we are called and asked to respond to our Lord with a bold and generous, Yes, here I am! BE Just: As leaders in our church and school, we are called to be the forerunners in advocacy of our brothers and sisters in need as well as conscientious giving. Together we will reflect on who we are as people of justice and how we are called to love tenderly, act justly and walk humbly with those in need.

8 1. Promote the Rally! Using the enclosed promotional materials, please promote the event within your parish, schools and communities. Encourage anyone interested in the event to visit the Youth Rally website for more information about the day! *Need more promotional materials? No Problem! Contact the Office for youth Ministry at the Diocese of Hamilton and we will be happy to send you more. 2. Group Registration Each participant coming with your group should have the following forms completed: Parish or school liability permission form (these must remain with the chaperones throughout the day. Please do not submit these forms to the Chancery). Diocesan Media Waver (These are to be submitted at the registration desk upon arrival at the Youth Rally). The cost per participant is $20.00 (bussing not included). Both youth and chaperones are required to pay this fee. Collect all of the forms noted above, monies and participants workshop selections and now you are ready to register online! Please note YOU NEED TO REGISTER ONLINE INORDER TO ATTEND THE RALLY! 3. Register Your Group Online You can begin the online registration process by visiting the Youth Rally website, from there you will be linked to the Eventbrite registration system. All participants names, ages, dietary restrictions, allergies and workshops are required to complete the online registration process. There are two options when paying for your online registration. Please note that if you wish to pay online using credit card there will be a transaction fee per registrant added to the cost. Groups may also pay by cheque by sending cheques made out to the Catholic Diocesan Account and mailed to: Office of Youth Ministry Diocese of Hamilton 700 King Street West Hamilton, ON L8P 1C7 We also ask that you send along the cheque payment form with the names of all registrants paid for with that specific cheque.
