Reading 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 1Now I would remind you, brothers and sisters, of the good news that I proclaimed to you, which you in turn received, in which also you stand, 2 through which also you are being saved, if you hold firmly to the message that I proclaimed to you unless you have come to believe in vain. 3For I handed on to you as of first importance what I in turn had received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the scriptures, 4 and that he was buried, and that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the scriptures, 5 and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. 6 Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died. 7 Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. 8 Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. 9 For I am the least of the apostles, unfit to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. 10 But by the grace of God I am what I am, and his grace toward me has not been in vain. 6 Sermon I AM the Resurrection Pastor Jonathan Hymn of the Day In Christ Alone In Christ alone my hope is found; He is my light, my strength my song. This cornerstone, this solid ground, firm through the fiercest drought and storm. What heights of love, what depths of peace, when fears are stilled, when strivings cease! My comforter, my all in all; here in the love of Christ I stand. In Christ alone, who took on flesh, fullness of God in helpless babe. This gift of love and righteousness, scorned by the ones He came to save. Til on that cross as Jesus died, the wrath of God was satisfied; For every sin on Him was laid; here in the death of Christ I live. (Interlude) There in the ground His body lay, light of the world by darkness slain. Then bursting forth in glorious day, up from the grave He rose again! And as He stands in victory sin s curse has lost its grip on me; For I am His and He is mine bought with the precious blood of Christ. We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead, and the life of the world to come. Amen Communion Welcome and Distribution - All Baptized Christians are welcome to join with us in this meal where we believe the true body and blood of Christ are present and received in, with, and under the bread and wine. Adults who do not receive the Supper or children who have not received first Communion instruction are encouraged to come forward for a blessing. We commune by intinction. As you are ushered forward, extend your hand to receive the bread and then dip it either into the wine or grape juice. White grape juice is available as a substitute and is offered in the second cup and a gluten free wafer is also available please asks your server. 17 A WORD TO OUR GUESTS! Thank you for worshiping with us on this great festival! We hope you encounter and experience the love of God in Jesus Christ this day and we encourage you to come and worship with us again. Our usual service times are 8am & 11am. At SLC, every Sunday is a mini-easter Sunday because every time we gather to praise God, hear the Word, and share in Christ s meal, we celebrate that Jesus is risen and with us. We use an ancient form of worship, where we fully participate through speaking, praying, listening, singing, giving, and even eating, all the while knowing that God is our audience. If the style seems a little different at first, give it some time. Many people find that fully participating in worship in this way draws them closer to the life giving story of Jesus.
