Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, that we may delight in your will and walk in your ways, to the glory of your holy name. Amen. P: Almighty God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and by the power of the Holy Spirit keep you in Eternal life. C: Amen.

4 Children s Sermon THE WORD Kids Word (10am) - Kids approx. ages 4-8 can go and hear the Word through story, crafts & games. Please meet in back of sanctuary. Children return after sermon. Reading Psalm 71 1In you, O LORD, I take refuge; let me never be put to shame. 2 In your righteousness deliver me and rescue me; incline your ear to me and save me. 3 Be to me a rock of refuge, a strong fortress, to save me, for you are my rock and my fortress. 4 Rescue me, O my God, from the hand of the wicked, from the grasp of the unjust and cruel. 5 For you, O LORD, are my hope, my trust, O LORD, from my youth. 6 Upon you I have leaned from my birth; it was you who took me from my mother's womb. My praise is continually of you. 7 I have been like a portent to many, but you are my strong refuge. 8 My mouth is filled with your praise, and with your glory all day long. 9 Do not cast me off in the time of old age; do not forsake me when my strength is spent. 10 For my enemies speak concerning me, and those who watch for my life consult together. 11 They say, "Pursue and seize that person whom God has forsaken, for there is no one to deliver." 12O God, do not be far from me; O my God, make haste to help me! 13Let my accusers be put to shame and consumed; let those who seek to hurt me be covered with scorn and disgrace. 14 But I will hope continually, and will praise you yet more and more. 15 My mouth will tell of your righteous acts, of your deeds of salvation all day long, though their number is past my knowledge. 16 I will come praising the mighty deeds of the Lord GOD, I will praise your righteousness, yours alone. 17 O God, from my youth you have taught me, and I still proclaim your wondrous deeds. 18So even to old age and gray hairs, O God, do not forsake me, until I proclaim your might to all the generations to come. Your power 19 and your righteousness, O God, reach the high heavens. You who have done great things, O God, who is like you? 20 You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. 21 You will increase my honor, and comfort me once again. 22 I will also praise you with the harp for your faithfulness, O my God; I will sing praises to you with the lyre, O Holy One of Israel. 23My lips will shout for joy when I sing praises to you; my soul also, which you have rescued. 24 All day long my tongue will talk of your righteous 4
5 help, for those who tried to do me harm have been put to shame, and disgraced. R: The Word of the Lord. C: Thanks be to God. Musical Meditation How He Loves John Mark McMillan (Please stand as you are able for the Gospel Acclamation) Gospel Acclamation (from John 6:68) R: The Holy Gospel according to St. Mark, the 5 th Chapter. C: Glory to you, O Lord Gospel Mark 5: Now there was a woman who had been suffering from hemorrhages for twelve years. 26 She had endured much under many physicians, and had spent all that she had; and she was no better, but rather grew worse. 27 She had heard about Jesus, and came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, 28 for she said, "If I but touch his clothes, I will be made well." 29 Immediately her hemorrhage stopped; and she felt in her body that she was healed of her disease. 30 Immediately aware that power had gone forth from him, Jesus turned about in the crowd and said, "Who touched my clothes?" 31 And his disciples said to him, "You see the crowd pressing in on you; how can you say, 'Who touched me?'" 32 He looked all around to see who had done it. 33 But the woman, knowing what had happened to her, came in fear and trembling, fell down before him, and told him the whole 5
6 truth. 34 He said to her, "Daughter, your faith has made you well; go in peace, and be healed of your disease." R: The Gospel of the Lord. C: Praise to you, O Christ. (Please be seated) Sermon (after a brief period of reflection, please stand for the hymn of the day) Hymn of the Day When Memory Fades Pastor Paula 6
7 Used with permission One License #A Apostles Creed I believe in God the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, God s only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen Prayers of the Church P: Lord in Your Mercy, C: Hear our prayer. THE MEAL Sharing of the Peace P: The peace of the Lord be with you always. C: And also with you. C: We lift them to the Lord. P: Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. C: It is right to give God thanks and praise. 8

Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, forever and ever. Amen 9
10 Communion Distribution-All Baptized Christians are welcome to join with us in this meal where we believe the true body and blood of Christ are really present and received under the form of bread and wine. At SLC, we commune by Intinction. As you are ushered forward, please come to the stations on either side of the Baptismal font, extend your hand to receive the bread (or ask for a gluten free wafer), and then dip it either into the wine or grape juice. White grape juice is available as a substitute and is offered in the second cup. You are also invited to remain at the altar rail for a brief time of prayer and meditation if you wish. Adults who do not receive the supper or children who have not received First Communion instruction are encouraged to come forward for a blessing.
