The Stations of the Cross will be available for you to walk through during the following hours: Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9-2 and 5-8 pm Thursday and Friday 9-2 and 5-7 pm Saturday 10 am-12 pm Jesus Painter, March 31 Experience the Life of Christ come into view through the artistry of The Jesus Painter at 7 pm in the Fellowship Hall. The Jesus Painter s mission is to bring people into an intimate worship experience where their relationship with our Savior becomes personal while we can only attain an incomplete picture of God s true glory, we are dedicated to painting the most powerful portrait we can find this side of eternity. Ultimately, our hope is that when we come face to face with the greatest love the world has ever known, we will respond as King David did, saying Your face, Lord, I will seek. " (This event is funded by the Victorian Qubein Fund.) Holy Thursday, April 2 We will commemorate our Lord s Last Supper in the Sanctuary at 7 pm. Good Friday, April 3 A Service of Tenebrae will help mark and remember the last hours and words of our Lord. 3 Youth News... 3 Lenten Series: Afraid of the Dark Jesus endured a lot of pain, depression, and heartache in His last days on earth. He was fully divine, and yet fully human at the same time. Our current series, which will take place during the entire Lenten season, will ask the question, How do we experience the divine when we are afflicted by such human affliction and pain? How do we learn not be afraid of the darkness, and instead learn to embrace how God is in the midst of our pain? It will be a very introspective series that will dive into the human side of Jesus. Spring Workshop Registration Registration for this year s Spring Workshop is NOW OPEN! This year s Spring Workshop is April and will be at Camp Canaan in Rock Hill, SC. It is open to students in all grades (6-12). We will have worship, great discussion, and fun activities, including ziplining over the Catawba river! The Early Bird cost for the trip will be $200. That price will be in effect until April 1. After that, it raises to $225. For more info (i.e. money, etc.), please contact Jay. Human Sexuality Weekend CANCELLED Due to lack of interest, Human Sexuality Weekend, which was originally scheduled for March 6-7, is indefinitely cancelled. While it is my strongest belief that Godly relationships should be discussed with students, I will do my best to incorporate those topics into times where more students will be present. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. MYF: Trivia Night This month s MYF is going to be competitive. We are having a restaurant-style trivia night in the Underground! It will be on March 8 from 7-9 pm. Come test your knowledge and have a great time with our students. The event will be free, and there will be prizes for the top 3 teams! It should be a lot of fun, and a great way for students to bring friends who do not have a church home. For more info, please contact Jay. Confirmation Retreat Our confirmands will be traveling to Lake Junaluska to participate in the Western North Carolina conference s annual Confirmation Retreat. The retreat will be a great way to focus on the commitment that our confirmands will be making in May. It will take place on March 20-22, and the cost will be $120. Online registrations are open now. It's that time of the year again! On March 15 at 12 PM in the Underground gathering area, we will have our next Church Camp planning meeting. This meeting is for 8th graders, and our Student Leadership Team. We will take this time to get the ball rolling, so to speak, on what it means to plan Church Camp, and to start ideas for themes and events for Church Camp. This will be one of many meetings we will have for Church Camp. Even though the SLT and adult leaders will be at this meeting, they will only act as advisors. The 8th grade will still be in charge of planning Church Camp. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Jay. Contact: Jay Butler Director of Student Ministries jbutler@wesleymemorial.org
