Many times we are impressed by big events, fireworks, theme parks, light shows, and more. We mark events with parties, celebrations, dinners, family, friends, and loved ones. While these are natural tendencies, Christianity is also about finding meaning in the small, seemingly inconsequential events in our lives. Changing a diaper is a routine task for parents, but it is also an act of charitable love. Preparing a meal for a family gathering can be tedious and timeconsuming, but it too is an act of charitable love. Being fully present to another can be difficult for us who are accustomed to checking mobile devices several times an hour, but it is an act of charitable love. Most of us are not going to do grandiose acts of charity for which we are praised and thanked on the evening news. Communion to those unable to come to Mass If you, or a family member are not able to participate at Mass and would like to receive communion, please contact the parish office. Anointing of the Sick The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick brings the compassionate presence of Christ into the midst of the suffering of those who are ill, aging, or preparing for minor /serious surgery. If you would like to be anointed, please contact the parish office. The faithful should be encouraged to ask for the anointing, and, as soon as the time for the anointing comes to receive it with faith and devotion - Rite of Anointing Page 2-306

From the Religious Ed Office: Congratulations to the First Reconciliation Class of 2017! 65 young parishioners celebrated this grace-filled, healing sacrament this weekend. Please keep them and their families in your prayers as they continue their journey toward First Eucharist in the spring. All RE Families are reminded to subscribe to the Remind Notification System as we draw closer to the time of year when weather can be a factor in determining if we need to close due to bad weather. Knights of Columbus December Family of the Month Rich and Joanne Boyer Rich has been a Knight for 10 years and has been very active in our council and in the parish. He is currently a Trustee and the Program Director, organizing the road clean up on Frazer Rd as needed. Rich and Joanne regularly attend the 10:30 mass, where Rich is often seen working at many of the parish fundraisers and as an usher at mass, often with his grandchildren. Joanne frequently serves as an Eucharistic Minister. Please join with the Knights to congratulate Rich & Joanne and thank them for their continued service. There are so many benefits of spending time in Eucharistic Adoration, but here are just a few of them. -Every Holy Hour we make so pleases the Heart of Jesus that it is recorded in heaven and retold for all eternity! Social Justice Reflection SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMITTEE MEETING: The Committee meets the first Thursday of select months at 6:30 pm in the parish center. The next meetings: January 4 and March 1. Ulster Project Delaware (UPD) is a peace project which has been going on in Delaware for 42 years. Every year 18 Northern Irish Catholic and Protestant teens come to stay with host families in Delaware for the month of July. The US host teens participate in the month filled with all the daily activities with the Northern Irish teens. It will be an amazing month packed with trips to Philadelphia, DC, New York, Hershey Park, beaches, pool parties, dances, shopping, as well as service projects, leadership and team building events, visits to various places of worship all directed towards developing tolerance and understanding among people with different cultural and religious differences. These activities are all covered in the low family fee of $200! It will be a month which will last a lifetime! The bond created among these teens within just a month is hard to believe. It is an opportunity of leadership and a perfect college essay topic. Lights of Love The Junior Board of St. Francis Hospital is once again sponsoring "Lights of Love" to recognize friends and family or to honor the memory of our loved ones. By making a donation of $10 or more per name, those honored will have their names displayed on a scroll in the hospital lobby.
