3 Fourth Sunday of Advent December 22 & 23, 2018 The Three Arrivals of Christ Jesus Comes in Human History Our celebration of Christmas focuses on the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem. The Christmas crèche at home or in the church, Christmas pageants, and liturgies all help us recall the moment Jesus was born as a human being to live his destiny as the Son of God and our Redeemer. Jesus Comes in Our Hearts Alive and among us through the Holy Spirit, Jesus continually reaches out to us. Advent renews our desire for the daily coming of Jesus as we recall the story of our salvation and look forward to the coming of the kingdom. We wait in joyful hope, as the Eucharistic liturgy says, for the coming of that kingdom. Jesus Comes in Glory The haunting melody and refrains of O Come, O Come, Emmanuel serve to remind us of our longing for the completion of Christ s reign at the end of time. 5 Community News Two history books to celebrate the Diocesan 150 th Anniversary are now available! Two history books, Rejoicing in the Lord, and Family of Faith have been published to help commemorate the 150 th anniversary of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington. Rejoicing in the Lord is a hard-cover, 336-page, full-color, glossy 10 inch by 10 inch book that features histories and photographs of all Catholic churches in Delaware and Maryland s Eastern Shore, plus biographies of all nine Wilmington bishops, with important ministries and events highlighted. Family of Faith is a 35-page, color diocesan history done in the comic book or graphic novel style that would appeal to middle schoolers and teens. 6 Diocesan News Catholic Charities taking application for energy assistance The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP), administered in Delaware by Catholic Charities, is now taking applications for the heating season. This federallyfunded program assists low-income Delawareans who need help in meeting home energy costs. LIHEAP makes payments directly to home energy suppliers. The LIHEAP benefit is based on a household s income, size, and type of fuel. You may be eligible for assistance if your total household income falls within income eligibility guidelines. For example, a household of 4 can have no more than $50,325 in annual household income (before taxes). In order to qualify, you must make an appointment with a Catholic Charities office for a personal interview. REGISTERED NURSE MEDICAL CONSULTANT- FEE FOR SERVICE The Diocese of Wilmington Catholic Charities is seeking an individual to provide medical consultation for the clients (women, girls, infants and young children) in care at Bayard House, a residential maternity home for homeless, pregnant women and girls located in Wilmington, who are prescribed prescription medications or nonprescription for sickness (infections, viruses, colds, etc.) or chronic and/or acute illness, such as diabetes and asthma. Clients on medications shall receive a minimum of one hour per month of medical consultation service each. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE: Develop an effective medication management program for Bayard House. Review the administration of the client s medication to ensure if problems with following the self-administration regulation and develop corrective action plans. Examine the medication administration record (MAR) for compliance with the assistance with the self-administration of the clients. Assess the overall general physical health of each client. Guide Bayard House staff in the physical care of each client. Evaluate and monitor the impact each client s medication, are the desired effects occurring and are there any side-effects noted. Make the staff aware of the expected outcomes and possible sideeffects of the medication each client is prescribed. QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed as a Registered Nurse in Delaware. Organized and detail oriented. Possess excellent communication skills. Apply good judgement, decision-making and critical thinking. Valid driver s license and insurable driving record.
