1 THE HILLTOP NEWS Laredo Dr., Fort Worth, Texas April 26, 2011 The purpose of Western Hills United Methodist Church is to continue the ministry of Jesus by making disciples through faith, hope and love. Each worship service was unique and from the sharing of your experiences with me you also liked them. I want to thank all of the members who participated in leading roles to make Easter so meaningful for all of us. Our chancel choir under the direction of Debra Rue with Allen Brown accompanying was here for each service and did an outstanding job of singing praises to our God. Maundy Thursday worship service focused on the sharing of the Last Supper and its effect rested on its simplicity. Each of our readers for the Stations of the Cross worship service did a superb job of reflecting through personal experience on the Holy Scripture readings. The service provided the solemnity of spirit and evoked within us the anticipation of Easter Sunday. I want to thank Donald Nemec for his diligence in providing the power point images for each station. Brandi Kelm was recruited into action and handled the sound board duties with precision. The theme of the Jesus and his passion continued as our church received over 300 neighborhood children and their parents for the celebration of The Reason?, - an eight station journey for the children to understand the events of Holy Week. Donald and Brandi Nemec put a lot of work and passion to lead our congregation in hosting such a meaningful event. There are too many names to mention because you as a congregation took this pilgrimage experience to heart and the children experienced the person of Jesus. Once again for each of you who attended the Easter worship service and took to heart to invite your family members to be present, thank you. The energy and enthusiasm in the sanctuary was very inspiring. Let s make it a point to do it again next year and celebrate then the growth and blessings that our church will experience in the process. Please accept my humble invitation for you to come back next Sunday to worship with the same resolve of inviting others to experience the power of Christian worship. We are all heralds of the good news! Next Sunday evening we will celebrate our spirit of Christian community by having a pancake supper, followed by worship, and culminating in Christian community having a great time playing trash bingo. It all starts with supper at 4pm. Once again do not come alone. Invite others to come and let s have a great time! Wishing you the blessings of Easter, Raul
