LIFE Group Leaders are available in the foyer to answer your questions about their group and have sign up sheets. 2 2 Carlos Corner Carlos There s so much that happens in a LIFE Group that doesn t happen during Sunday morning worship. YOU BELONG This Sunday we kick-off a new season of LIFE Groups for the Pitman Road church. I can t begin to tell you what a benefit LIFE Groups have been to me and my family in the past, or how I ve seen LIFE Groups bless others as well. There s so much that happens in a LIFE Group that doesn t happen during Sunday morning worship. Over the course of the last year and a half here at Pitman Road, I ve really come to know people at LIFE Group. From the ups and downs, good and bad, we ve laughed and cried, and we ve been able to get into each other s lives. This is such a huge reminder to me of the church in Acts 2: They devoted themselves to the apostles teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved. Acts 2:42-47 As we get ready to start this season of LIFE Groups, I m excited about getting together with my brothers and sisters and diving into God s Word, worshipping together, enjoying each other s company, and being part of what God will do in our lives. 4 4 BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 20, 2015 We are making a big push for National Back to Church Sunday this year! Next week we will have postcard invitations for you to hand out or mail out to family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers who you would like to invite. A visitor friendly worship service is being planned for that morning. Please be thinking about and praying for those you can invite to join us on September 20th. And after the special worship service for BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY please invite your guests to join us at our Annual Church Picnic! Sunday, September 20th Immediately following worship. At James G. Atkinson Park (Formerly Bethel Mill Park) Cook-out, Walking Trails, Playground, Ball Fields, Restrooms! Food Provided: Buns for hamburgers/hot dogs, Potato Chips, Drinks, Condiments. Desserts will be provided by Elders /Deacons wives. Please Bring: Hot dogs and/or burgers for your family and two extra people. Also--please bring a side dish to share. Please Note: Leave meats in the church kitchen before the start of the worship service. Bring side dishes directly to the picnic. Help is needed for set-up, grilling, and clean-up. 5 Not So Newly Wed Game On Wednesday, August 19th, we honored long term marriages by playing the Not So Newlywed Game with couples married 50 or more years: Tom & Melva Toy, Bud & Barbara Britton, Rich & JoAnn Ruhland, Ted and Pat Schuehler, Dwight and Mary Lea Thompson, and Rit & Barby Jo Crema. Steve & Dreama Musso were planning to attend, but Dreama s health prevented them from doing so. We all received some great marital advice and had a lot of laughs! Our winners were: 1st Place- Ruhlands 2nd Place- tie between Brittons and Schuehlers 3rd Place- Thompsons Each woman was asked three questions, and the husbands had to match their answer. Here are the questions and our favorite answer to each: (You can try to guess who gave the answer!) Our marriage would be perfect if we could just agree on. ANYTHING! It must be true that opposites attract because my spouse and I are total opposites when it comes to. DRYING THE SHOWER. If your spouse was a sandwich, which would they be: peanut butter and jelly, roast beef with spicy mayo, or bologna and cheese? BOLOGNA & CHEESE! We Extend Sympathy We express our most sincere sympathy to the Hutchinson and Young families on the passing of Franklin Rhodes last Tuesday evening. Franklin was baptized on this past Easter Sunday at the age of 93. The Hutchinson and Young families honored Franklin in a wonderful memorial service last Wednesday. Melody Schools, throat surgery was postponed until Monday (tomorrow), and is supposed to start her new job on Tuesday. David Davis, Harriet s grandson, pneumonia and collapsed lung. Charles Busch, safely got through a risky medical procedure last week, is showing some improvement, but still hospitalized. Barbara Britton recovering from knee replacement surgery she had on Monday. Nancy Calabro, numerous serious health concerns. Eric Nardelli. Diana Ford s oldest son, needs prayers for his physical and mental wellbeing. Dianne Perales, multiple health concerns. Issac Burrows, Melody School s 4 year old grandson, recovering from the first of several surgeries on his leg. Military: Andrew Holden at West Point.
