2 Dear St. Pius X Community, One week of Lent under our belts. Are we be er off today than we were a week ago? Are we heading in the correct direc on? Remember to read the Pope s Lenten message for this year, it is amazing. I posted it on my blog, to make it easy to find. Thanks to the Women of St. Pius X for the new Ciborium Bowl. It is much more liturgically correct for all of us to have a single focus point. We are working out glitches at Frac on Rite (Lamb of God), but am excited to have reduced the clu er on the Altar. THANK YOU! Speaking of clu er! I recently learned that a statue that was in Blessed Sacrament Chapel was a parishioner s and a family Heirloom. We learned this when it was moved. That said, a er over 18 months of de-clu ering, we s ll have stuff everywhere. If there is anything that you have on church grounds, that wasn t an uncondi onal gi, please call us to get it back. We are diligently organizing and de-clu ering, and you will see things in the rummage sale (June 23) that we just don t need anymore. We don t want you to see something dear to you for sale, if that is not your intent. Parking will be an issue for a long me. (Un l I win the lo ery and can build a parking garage.) A family pays good money at auc on for their spot to be available. That is easy and good money for St. Pius X, please respect it. On occasion I have let them block me in or use my spot when the paid for spot is taken and that is a pain. A few others have learned recently that if the parking lot is full and they use my spot, I just pull in behind them. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but Fr. Cesar and I come and go all the me and need that access. Others are also very sloppy with our fire lanes. That is a safety issue. Please help me with this so we don t have to pay for Towing Enforced signs. Thanks. As you know, we no longer have the guards. We are s ll working at ge ng our new system in place. We will save a minimum of $10,000 a year doing it this way. That said, please be mindful of the lights. IF you are the last one out of a room or building turn off the lights. We no longer have any lights that cost us more when they are turned back on, so don t worry about turning them off. If someone else needs them, they can turn them on. Updates on things going on around the place. We have new roofs on school, gym, and Church. Thanks to Debbie for coordina ng all that work. Our network is almost up to an acceptable standard. We s ll need to set up vlans A MESSAGE FROM FATHER PAT and a few other things to really get to where we need to be. John is shoo ng for Spring Break, mostly probably because I will be out of the country. Thanks to John Montes for all of his help and pa ence with me. Thanks to all that have converted to online giving. Collec ons are looking up, and more would greatly improve things around here. I am trying to have just one ask for money every week for the parish. I realize how many other asks that there are between second collec ons, Appeal and the Andele Campaign. Right now, I could easily set up a fund for parking lot, especially by St. Vincent de Paul. The whole thing needs to be sealed. When our roofs were checked a er the hail, I was told that the office roof wasn t damaged, but that it was at the end of its life. We need a keyless entry system to allow parishioner access and yet s ll maintain control of facili es. There are people with keys that show up in buildings, yet have not worked here in years. A er that we will need to rekey. A side of the Church may be coming off. If we have to take it off and replace that will be almost six figures. Many have men oned ge ng the tetris figures off of the stained glass, that is about $80,000. We also need to close in the backend area of our worship space with glass so that we can maintain an area for those needing more space and yet try and quiet the church down before and a er Mass. Our organ needs maintenance even though we don t use it at all the Masses or even every weekend. It is a great instrument that needs to be maintained. Brick pavers need to be reset and raised. Through generous gi s, we have upgraded the sound system, but there is s ll more needed. Our weekly collec on just keeps us where we are and that is with me doing things like IT, sound, maintenance and you get the point. I like IT, I m learning more about sound, yet there are other places I should be focused. Please consider these things when planning your weekly/monthly giving. In Him, Fr. Pat

4 FR. CESAR S CORNER ALTAR FLOWERS Lenten Corner We are now stepping into this second week of Lent. It might be interes ng to know how you entered into it. Those are interes ng stories worth knowing. This Sunday s reading for the La n Mass introduces us to meditate on our personal sanc fica on. Saint Paul says in his le er to the Thessalonians: Haec est enim volúntas Dei, sanc ficá o vestra. This is God s will, your holiness (Thess 4:1-7). Even though Paul s statement was addressing some sexual moral issues that were going on among the Thessalonians, we can draw out of the reading these words as related to the season of Lent. We are seeking through this season our sanc fica on. The spirit of Lent in no way should shy us away from our ul mate concern of permanent sanc fica on. Precisely, paganism was known for expressing religious beliefs without building a rela onship with the gods other than the exterior ritual and sacrificial offerings. Unlike this pagan vision, Chris anity seeks to build up and exteriorize God s will in the life of the believer. In this season we sanc fy ourselves and the world by being obedient to God in every aspect; praying, giveing and following the commandments. Since we are no more instructed solely on sexual ma ers but in everything that pertains to the whole person, then our holiness involves propping up every aspect of our persona. The transfigura on is merging us in the dazzling presence of Christ and from Christ drawing all strength to walk the journey of faith more accurately. In God s surrounding radiance we can understand that we need to improve every aspect of our lives. For this is the will of my Father that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have eternal life (John 6:40). Discovering Our Faith With Archbishop Gustavo March 6, 2017 St. Pius X has the honor of hos ng Archbishop Gustavo s program Discovering Our Faith. It will be filmed here on March 6 in the Msgr. Mar n Family Center. The program will begin at 7:00 PM. Those who plan on a ending need to be here by 6:30 PM for instruc ons on audience interac on. Easter Lily Sales will take place after all Masses the weekend of March 3 & 4. This is a wonderful opportunity to honor and remember those in our lives. You can fill out the form in this bulletin and return it to one of the ladies next weekend. Help us to adorn our church this Easter. To reserve altar flowers, please contact: Becky Tarwater, phone: (210) , rickrbecky@sbcglobal.net or Joyce Chramosta, phone: (210) , chramostaj@att.net9. All food donated will help stock our St. Vincent de Paul neighborhood food pantry. Our parishioners, students, teachers along with Parish ministries and organiza ons are encouraged to par cipate. The sign up sheets are located on the poster board in the back of the church. Praying for peace before the Lord - what a beau ful gi for your family and for the world. Lord, make me a channel of your peace. Stephen Ministry is YOUR ministry! You are the eyes and ears, keeping watch for people in need and recommending Stephen Ministry to them. Did you know that those people do not need to be members of St. Pius X but can be members of our community that are hur ng? Your voice is needed to suggest this ministry to all those who can benefit from it. Most importantly, your prayers are needed to support Stephen Ministry its Leaders, Ministers and Care Receivers. Please contact Steve Gree ens at (210) for informa on.
