GATHERING TOGETHER PRELUDE: Guide Me O, Thou Great Jehovah arr: Cindy Berry CALL TO WORSHIP: Cathy Dawson Leader: Today, we celebrate God s goodness through the gift of mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and all the women who have loved and shaped us. People: Lord, thank you for giving us mothers. Leader: We remember with gratitude all the ways mothers demonstrate your sacrificial love to us. People: Lord, thank you for giving us mothers. All: Like our mom, surround us now with your arms of grace and the touch of your amazing love. * GATHERING SONG: #376 Love Divine, All Loves Excelling * PRAYER OF CONFESSION: (unison) Cathy Dawson Lord, in your mercy hear our prayer. We confess that it is still all too easy for us to sacrifice our convictions for convenience, your standards for status, your principles for promotion, your absolutes for ambition, our souls for shallow and unsatisfying success. How easily we are seduced by power, prestige, pleasure, or possessions to use these for our good rather than your glory. We turn from those things that please us temporarily and we turn to you who satisfies us eternally. Have and heal our heart as we silently confess to you... SILENT CONFESSION ASSURANCE OF PARDON * GREETING ONE ANOTHER: Leader: May the peace of Christ be with you. People: And also with you. * CONGREGATIONAL RESPONSE: Change My Heart, O God by Eddie Espinosa Change my heart, O God, make it ever true. Change my heart, O God, may I be like you. Then people brought little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked them. Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." When he had placed his hands on them, he went from there. - Matthew 19: 13-15
