Over 20 percent of people in the United States have turned away from organized religion. They ve become known as the Nones. They may believe in God, but have rejected religion. This is an unprecedented change, never seen in our history. We re going to take a look at what it may mean to be church in the future. All members and friends of Colonial Church are invited to join us on this journey, which will begin with a congregation-wide gathering on February 22 after the 10:15 service. Those participating will be placed into small groups of people, and agree to meet with them an additional two times in the following weeks at an agreed upon time and location. Writers Group Colonial Writers Group will meet at 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb.11 in the Heritage Room. Writing suggestions: the best decision you ever made, the deepest joys and challenges of your youth, a story from your life that still makes you laugh. Colonial s Inclement Weather Policy The policy for weekdays is to close the church office whenever the Shawnee Mission School District cancels classes for inclement weather. Canceling activities, other than worship services, is the responsibility of the person in charge. Food Drive Needs Your Help! When the weather outside is frightful, a bowl of soup can be so delightful. Why not pick up an extra can or two to drop in the little red wagon in the narthex next Sunday? It could make the difference of whether or not a child goes to bed hungry at night. Or, why not bring some of those unopened tins of cookies, nuts, or candy you received as a gift over the holidays. Watch the supermarket sales each week for basics like peanut butter and cereal. The Village Church Food Pantry never has an oversupply of them. We can t feed all the hungry in Johnson County, but we can make a difference for some. 2
