C: For the new life that beats within us now. P: In all things, we give You thanks and join with creation's song, C: Great is the Lord and most worthy to be praised! PRAYER OF THANKSGIVING P: Merciful Father, C: we offer with joy and thanksgiving what you have first given us, our selves, our time, and our possessions, signs of your gracious love. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. INVITATION TO THE TABLE P: Friends, this is the joyful feast of unity. Christ has gathered his people around the earth to commune at this table. Across political lines and economic lines, in places of powerfully protected affluence, and among the poorest of the poor, we share a meal, remembering and celebrating the One who proved shalom possible. And so, come: you from the East and you from the West, from the North and from the South. Come. Come with your doubts, come with your hopes, come with your inadequacies and with your strengths. Come, for this is a table where all are invited and all are welcome. WORDS OF INSTITUTION P: In the night in which he was betrayed, our Lord Jesus took bread, and gave thanks; broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying: Take and eat; this is my body, given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me. Again, after supper, he took the cup, gave thanks, and gave it for all to drink, saying: This cup is the new covenant in my blood, shed for you and for all people for the forgiveness of sin. All: Jesus Christ, host of this meal, you have given us not only this bread and cup, but your very self, that we may feast on your great love. Filled again by these signs of your grace, may we hunger for your reign of justice, may we thirst for your way of peace, for you are Lord forevermore. Amen. We have applied for a Thrivent Action Team and hope to be approved to give each family their own personal copy of the book. They will take donations of coffee and styrofoam cups in both the 8 oz and 12 oz sizes. A donation jar may be set out to purchase necessary items and cookies to keep this tradition going. LUTHERAN CHRISTIANS BELIEVE AND TEACH that Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Word of God, is truly present in the Lord s Supper, and that in this meal of the baptized children of God, our Lord gives forgiveness of sin, life and salvation. All who seek the mercy and grace of God in the body and blood of our Lord Jesus are welcome to the Lord s table. Those who desire to partake of this communion are invited to receive the Lord s body and blood by eating the bread and drinking from the cup of wine. Grape juice and gluten free bread are available-please let your server know if you would like it. Those who desire to participate but cannot receive the bread and/or the cup of wine are invited to come forward with hands folded to hear the words of promise. Children may be communed or blessed, according to the practice of one s church or home congregation. Those who are physically unable to come forward should notify one of the ushers of their desire to receive. FILLEY VOLUNTEER FIREMEN PANCAKE FEED: Sunday, Feb. 3, 11 am-1 p.m. Sapp Fire Building, Filley. Pancakes, eggs, sausage & drink. Freewill donation. Proceeds to Fire Department improvements. DEAR FRIENDS at American Lutheran Church in Filley: Thank you so much for your donation to Mercy Meals raised from the Filley Stone Barn Raffle. How wonderful! This donation will purchase supplies for 2,567 meals. We hope to do a mass packing of 50,000+ meals this spring. Watch for info on Facebook and we ll try to remember to call you. SunMart/Spartan Nash Co. supports a fundraising program called Support Our Schools and Churches. All you have to do is save your SunMart cash register receipt tapes and put them in the box in the Fellowship Hall. When we have collected $150,000 in receipt tapes Spartan Nash Company will award us a check for $1000. You can also ask your check-out person if they have any extra receipts. They save the ones that people don t want and give them out first come, first serve. Our last counted total was $52, Thank you to everyone who is helping with this ministry!! 5 WINDOW REPLACEMENT UPDATE: At our semi-annual meeting, the congregation voted to move forward with the replacement of the two stained glass windows on the west side of the church in addition to the east window that is currently under construction. Funding is to come from Memorial money and the Building Fund, however, we are still soliciting donations for this work as we do not wish to deplete the Building and Memorial Funds any more than we have to. Please consider an additional donation for the replacement of the west windows. If you wish to do so, please contact a member of the Council or the Long Range Planning Committee. Thank you!
