After 61 years of marriage to the same women and over 55 years of ministry in several countries I have one word to describe Agape love: WORK, FORGIVENESS, CONFESSION OF YOUR OWN WRONGS. GUESS THAT IS MORE THAN ONE WORD. BUT IT ALL TAKES WORK. Every relationship has bumps, but we don't throw in the towel. We keep loving. 1 Corinthians chapter 13 is a good place to start in understanding love. It's probably the best chapter in the Bible on love. Paul begins by telling us we can have a lot of gifts, talents and abilities, but without love it doesn't really matter. Read what he says. Continued on page 2...

2 From The Pastor s Pen Continued... If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 The Bible says that rather than looking for spiritual gifts and a huge faith and even enormous giving, we should get busy and demonstrate love. Do loving, kind, helpful things for others. That is love! Love proceeds from God because it is his essential nature. God loves us even though we are unworthy. We don t deserve it. "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 And if we are truly a Christian, a child of God, love should be our nature. We love because God loves us! February 14 is a day to celebrate genuine, godly agape love for your mate, family, friends, church family, everyone. Let s do it! Let s get out and show love to others. Love you, Pastor THE PATHWAY OF PEACE Back in the fall I wanted to hold a seminar concerning peace-making, but finding the right time to hold such a seminar turned out to be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. So I m taking the information I would present in a seminar and turning it into a series of sermons called The Pathway to Peace. I firmly believe that every Christian would benefit from this information. It will be helpful for use in the home, the Church, the workplace, virtually everywhere. In The Pathway to Peace series, we will look at the reality of and the results of conflict in our world. We will study the great value of applying Biblical principles to any conflict we might face. Christians will grow spiritually; there is greater unity in the home, in the Church family and in the work place when the Word of God is applied. In dealing with any difference in any setting we always need to remember this: RELATIONSHIPS ARE ALWAYS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE ISSUE. THE GOAL IS TO MAINTAIN THE RELA- TIONSHIP, WHILE SOLVING THE ISSUE. We must not allow breaches in our Christian relationships to be lost because of a conflict or difference of opinion. When there is conflict which results in Christian relationships being broken, SATAN WINS. A premier passage of Scripture we will look at is Colossians 3: Please begin reading this passage now. There will be handouts for you to go over the teaching on your own. The messages will also be on our website for you to listen to. I believe you will be blessed by these messages and that the entire body of Christ will grow in Christ as we apply these principles. This series will begin the second Sunday in February. Please begin to pray about these important messages and plan to be in attendance for all. Love you, Pastor page 2

3 ALL CHURCH YOUTH BOX DINNER Dear Parents, Thank-you for sharing your children with the First Christian Church, allowing us to share the Good News of Jesus Christ. Your family is invited to a church-wide Boxed Dinner Auction/Event benefiting our Senior High Youth Group on February 12th at 12:00. How the event proceeds: Each female is asked to decorate a box and fill it with a lunch for 2. Be as creative as you choose when decorating your box HAVE FUN WITH IT! Then fill it with your lunch favorites. We are allowing time after church for you to return home to gather your items. Cold lunches are fine, but it you d like to include hot items, place them in a marked tin-foil pan and we will have the stoves on to keep them warm. Paper plates, drinks, napkins, ect. will be provided. The lunch boxes will be auctioned with each male bidding and then eating with the cook. Ladies...we encourage you to keep your decorated box hidden from the bidders in your home. Part of the fun is not knowing who made the box or what is inside! This is also a wonderful way to interact and meet other members of our church. If you d like to mix up, the male member of the family providing the box and lunch...we are OK with that. This event is meant to be fun! Please plan on attending. Money raised to fund the Sr. High Youth Group Retreat March All children 1st Grade to College are encouraged to attend the Lakeview Christian Camp. Our church sponsors this camp and provides scholarships to our youth group members. Wilderness Camp 10th - 12th Grades Colorado hiking trip TBA FOOD BANK DONATIONS NEEDED The Food Bank needs various hygiene products such as: Body Wash Bar Soap Shampoo Dish Soap Razors Baby Powder Diapers and other baby items These items may be dropped off at the Food Bank. Their hours are Tuesdays noon to 3:00 p.m. and Thursdays 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. A contact person for coordinating donations is Heather at Also, If people have some toys to donate for the Food Bank waiting room, they would be appreciated. page 3

4 Women s World in Manhattan Ladies, does a special spiritual get-away for wom- Thank you so much for the wonderful service and en sound interesting to you? meal you provided for my Aunt Mickey Siglinger. Manhattan Christian College sponsors Women s World each year. It includes great music, a guest speaker and a choice of several workshops. It is held at the Kansas State University Student Union. Several of us have attended and we have been blessed. We d love to have others join I am the one who sang and played guitar Somewhere Over The Rainbow. You minister is so very wise and inspirational! It is us who are dying Mickey is the one that is living. These words, spoken by him, will always be remembered. May God continually bless you all and your us.
