Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, so that we may no longer suffer disgrace. 18 I told them that the hand of my God had been gracious upon me, and also the words that the king had spoken to me. Then they said, Let us start building! So they committed themselves to the common good. 19 But when Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official, and Geshem the Arab heard of it, they mocked and ridiculed us, saying, What is this that you are doing? Are you rebelling against the king? 20 Then I replied to them, The God of heaven is the one who will give us success, and we his servants are going to start building; but you have no share or claim or historic right in Jerusalem. (Nehemiah 2:17-20) Hard to believe that it was 5 years ago that this church was faced with similar decisions. When something terrible happens there is always a point where decisions must be made, no matter how difficult they may seem. Though I wasn t here as you struggled with those decisions I am sure that I know some of the things you wrestled with. Where is God and how could God let this happen? Should we rebuild, how can we rebuild? Why should we rebuild? All of those are good questions and we always have to struggle with them, but having been here almost 2 years now I also know that you eventually asked the right question. Which of course is, does God want us to do this? You obviously heard a resounding yes to that question and here we are. Things are moving so fast now and we are hoping to have everything done in the basement early next year. We will have a party and a celebration then but there is really something we should do first. We should remember. Friends, we will be having a celebration of the flood on June 29 at 6:30, and I hope you will all attend and help us thank God for the work being done here. We faced a great loss and we are still here. Not only here but thriving in a new way doing a new work. The hand of God has been gracious to us, and is the one who is giving us success. I am grateful to be just a small part of this, and I hope you are too, so come and join us as we thank God.

2 RENOVATION NEWS Boy, oh boy, oh boy..oh BOY! The walls in the dining room have been taped, mudded, sanded and prime painted. Colors have been chosen for the finish paint and ideas for a pictoral scene on one wall are coming together, The heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system is near completion. Connecting the gas line to the furnace and installing the condensing unit for the a/c are the only major jobs left to do before we crank-it-up. The bathroom needs some carpentry work, then some plumbing work and some drywall to be installed. Much of the drywall is already in place and prime painted. Next would be plumbing and installing the lavatory and base cabinet. After that, it s finish paint, reinstall the dividers and toilets, a new ceiling and floor, a new door and done! And, of course all new lights, switches and electrical outlets remain to be installed by the electrician. This would complete Phase II of the electrical upgrades. We are waiting for estimates ($) for materials and labor to install and trim seven (7) doors, baseboard, bathroom stall dividers and door, ceiling tiles and other misc. items to complete both rooms. The vertical platform lift (VPL) project is a work in progress. An architectural engineer from Boulder Consultants Co. is working on drawings and putting together specs for installing a shaft from the first floor to the basement so the VPL can be installed by Victory Lift Co. Currently there is not a definite time frame for installation and completion of the lift. Good news is the project was estimated in 2015 to be around $80,000. The current estimate is somewhere between $40,000 and $50,000. Now we will concentrate on designing a new kitchen. One idea is to layout a floor plan geared toward work areas. One area for prep and stove top cooking, another area for prep and oven baking. The dishwasher will remain where it is. Sinks will remain where they were; however, the counter top area and base cabinets may be smaller. More base cabinets, wall cupboards and counter space will be added. GOT IDEAS? Tell someone on B & G, Lesa, Pastor Rick or George. One day, when my children are grown, I hope they still come through the front door without knocking. I hope they head to the kitchen for a snack and rifle through the mail looking for a magazine they always read. I hope they come in and feel with weight of adulthood leave them, for they are home, For my children, my door will forever be open. 4 A joy! Mike Scudder passed his candidacy exam at Ohio State and is an official PhD candidate in inorganic chemistry. Congratulations Mike!! Our card caring ministry is in need of Birthday Cards. If you have any extras, or see any collections in the stores, please consider providing some for this important outreach ministry of our congregation. Christian Sympathy is extended to the family of Virginia Reynolds who passed away in the early morning hours of May 26. Ginny was a beloved member of this church having celebrated 74 years of membership in She will be greatly missed. Her funeral will be Sat., June 2 at 11am here at the church.
