1 Q U A R T E R L Y N E W S L E T T E R V O L 2 1 J A N U A R Y - F E B R U A R Y - M A R C H Majority Today Greetings and Grace Brothers and Sisters: We are off to a great start this year, and I am very excited about what God has in store for us! As we continue to progress through 2016, I want all of us to stay laser focused on our theme for this year: Reaching the Community for Christ, and the key to achieving this goal is for everyone to become engaged in the ministry and with each other. In order to accomplish this we must do the following: We must come to church each Sunday and worship God in Spirit and in Truth. We must continue to study God s Word each and every day. We must pray for our families, our community, our world and each other. We must also reach out and help those around us who are in need. I want to encourage and challenge each member to become fully engaged in the ministry of our church. If you are not already involved in a ministry, then my request is for you to get active in a ministry that matches your spiritual gift(s). If you do not know what your gift is, then my advice is to pray and ask God to show you what gift He has placed inside of you. Every one of us is special because God made us, and if you have accepted His Son Jesus Christ as your personal Savior, then God has also equipped you and me for ministry through the Holy Spirit. Finally, I want all of us to remember our ultimate goal this year, and that is for each member to lead at least one person to Christ this year. We have been commanded to Go and make disciples of all nations in the Word of God, and God expects that in order for His Kingdom to grow then we will be the vessels to invite others to come and have a relationship with Him. 2 NEWS FROM THE PEWS A People Growing In Faith Where Everyone Is Special 2016 Theme: Reaching The Community For Christ Our Spring Leadership Workshop, held on April 5th, was very informative. A collection of ideas and teamwork that will benefit the church. A great spiritual workshop. A great fellowship when we walked in the neighborhood and invited others to come and be a part of our worship experience. The next Outreach will be in April. COME WALK WITH US. Their ministry looks out for the whole church and their outreach for the needs of the community. May you continue to be a servant for the kingdom of God. The Men of Majority are collecting clothes for Men of Divinity Outreach Ministry who need clothes and shoes. 7 Health Matters January Start with a plan that is gradual. High in fiber and high in nutrients. February Reduce your intake of saturated fat. Choose low-fat or nonfat dairy options. March Celebrate Nutrition Month! Choose fruits and veggies over candies, Cakes, and fried foods. April Fill half your plate with fruits and vegetables At each meal. May Limit your intake of sodium. Choose low salt or no salt added versions of foods such as crackers, nuts, canned vegetables, coups and soy sauce. June Celebrate Fruit and Vegetable Month with extra fruits and vegetables. R E S O L U T I O N C A L E N D A R July Try to exercise for at least 2.5 hours every week; start slowly, and gradually increase your distance or intensity. August Pack a brown bag lunch, making sure your lunch is healthful and balanced. September Eat less saturated fat. Instead, work on increasing your fiber intake. October Eat at least one meatless meal each week. Plan menus that include pasta dishes, bean dishes, whole grain breads, and a variety of fruits and vegetables. November As the holiday season approaches, begin practicing low-fat cooking techniques. Modify your favorite recipes in oeder to lower the fat and calorie content. December The holiday season is upon you. Try to maintain your weight by sticking to a consistent exercise schedule and limiting high calorie foods. Remember: All members are asked to submit a Request To Use Facilities Form for all meetings to be held at the church to the financial secretary at the end of the month for meetings in the upcoming month. The monthly schedule is submitted to the building monitor for opening and closing the church. The Request form is located by the gym in the mail slot. Reverend Bush is available for appointments, please call to schedule. Please let us know of any Majority Members who are sick/or in the hospital by calling the Church Office at (864) and leaving a message. ONLINE GIVING is available. Please go to our website for instructions. Payments for the Washington Trip will be taken up every Sunday in the Family Life Center. The last payment is due May 15th. Rev.
