If you look at the list, you can see gifts that we all share like faith, but then there are others that seem more present in one person than another.

The saints have shown us that sometimes the seemingly weakest among us have accomplished mighty deeds. So discern the gifts that the Spirit has given to you and make good use of them.

But then there are these incredible moments of profound insights from Paul into the very nature of the church itself. He does not give only theological insights, but guided by the Holy Spirit, he inspires the church with some of the most profound and poetic words ever written about the church. This week is no exception. In his attempt to explain the action of the Holy Spirit in the church, Paul lists a variety of gifts that are given to us. He mentions things like faith, gifts of healing, mighty deeds and prophecy. He implies that not everyone receives the same gifts. If you look at the list, you can see gifts that we all share like faith, but then there are others that seem more present in one person than another. But it might be fair to say that all of these gifts are available to each of us. We shouldn t sit back and say oh well, it is up to someone else to perform mighty deeds in the name of the Lord. The saints have shown us that sometimes the seemingly weakest among us have accomplished mighty deeds. So discern the gifts that the Spirit has given to you and make good use of them.
