Father Bogdan s Corner On the First Sunday after Pentecost, such as today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Blessed Trinity. It is our belief that there is one God in Three Persons. Each of them, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit, has a special and unique role in the past, present and future. God is the creator, Jesus leads us and all creations to the Father, and the Holy Spirit sanctifies us and all the creations. All life begins in the Trinity, comes from the Trinity and is destined to end in the Trinity. The Three Divine Persons are coequal, coeternal and consubstantial as we confess in our Creed. This weekend is extended an additional day Memorial Day to honor all those who died serving the United States Military. On this day, through our civil and religious celebrations, we want to preserve the memory of all who sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for our country. We offer them flowers, visit cemeteries, place a flag on their graves, have a picnic or a meal together in their memory and offer prayers, such as communal - Holy Mass or individual Rosary, Novenas, Our Father, Hail Mary, Litanies or simply say Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Thank you to all those who are serving or have served in the Military, and we pray for your safety. The Parish Finance Council discussed, negotiated, planned and prepared the budget for the 2018/2019 year. The budget was sent to the Archdiocese of Detroit for approval. It is a great, realistic and balanced budget. The PFC is made of professional people who know how to manage the parishioners sacrificial giving. I am asking parishioners to systematically support our church using envelopes. If you do not have envelopes please call the Parish Office. This year s CSA is underway. People are responding well. Thanks to all donors. Those who have not decided please consider supporting our Church on a broader level. Please continue to collect and bring rocks to the parking lot that will be used for future landscaping. Thanksgiving is still several months away, but I am encouraging parents and students who are graduating this year to attend a special Graduation Mass on June 10 th at 11:00 am to express gratitude to God, to teachers, coaches and to all who brought students to this stage of their lives. 3 PAGE 3 Divine Mercy Devotions St. Faustina Church Every Thursday at 6:00 p.m. St. Faustina will be having a Graduation Mass on Sunday, June 10, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. to honor all graduates. If you are graduating this year from high school or college, please contact Sandy Acord at or at sandyjacord@gmail.com. Including Exposition, a reading from St. Faustina s Diary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, Rosary and a period of silent reflection. Stewardship Thoughts A Trinitarian theme - three persons in one God - connects today s Scripture readings. In the First Reading from Deuteronomy, Moses professes that due to God s uniqueness, people should be inspired to follow His directives. According to St. Paul s Letter to the Roman community, the Spirit permits us to become adopted children and heirs through Christ - Roman society held adopted children in high esteem. In a powerful evangelization message from St. Matthew s Gospel, Jesus commissions His Apostles: Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Do we, as faithful stewards, realize our baptismal call, our gift of discipleship from the Lord? Moved by the Holy Trinity, do we express this discipleship in a spirit of Evangelization by welcoming home our brothers and sisters who have left the faith, and those who do not know Christ? The picnic this year is going to be on September 16, There is a lot of planning and work that goes into having a successful event. We need to start planning the event now. There are a lot of different activities that go on during the picnic, which means we need a lot of help to plan, organize, and prepare. If you would like to help or are just thinking about helping at the picnic, please join us on Tuesday, June 5 th at 6:30 p.m. in the Family Center. Thank you and God Bless, George Shevenock Picnic Chairperson The Man of the Shroud Exhibit At St. Paul of Tarsus Parish, Clinton Township The Shroud of Turin has long been venerated by the faithful and is believed by many to be the burial cloth of Jesus of Nazareth. The Shroud is one of the most scientifically studied religious icons in history. The Center for the Study of the Passion of Christ and the Holy Shroud has developed a moving and informative exhibit on the Shroud of Turin, including a full-length photographic image of the Shroud. In addition, on display will be a large crucified corpus showing the wounds of Christ corresponding to the passion narrative in the Gospel accounts and the wounds shown on the Shroud. Also included are 92 panels detailing the history and science of the Shroud. Free will donations will be accepted to help with the upkeep of the exhibit. We are trying to identify all of our first grade students for registration for the religious education class. First grade is a required pre-requisite for the second grade Sacraments of First Reconciliation and Eucharist.
