Call the Parish office for more information Baptismal Prep Class Prepare yourself for your child s baptism by coming to Baptism Class. The next Baptism prep is Sunday, February 17th at 3pm in the Parish Office. Children can be dropped off no earlier than 5:10pm at the back door of the Parish Hall to participate in Homework Help, Accelerated Reader, or Music with our Music Minister, Denise from 5:15-5:45pm. They will then be served supper before Faith Formation begins at 6pm. If you do not want to participate in the homework and supper, drop-off will be at the back door of the Parish Hall no earlier than at 5:55pm. 3 Master, we have worked hard all night and have caught nothing, but at your command I will lower the nets! Fishing is a difficult and dangerous way to make a living. The profits sometimes do not justify the perspiration and the peril. And it is highly unlikely that a man who has spent his life fishing on a small, pear shaped sea in Galilee would take the advice of a carpenter about where and when to lower his nets. That is why Simon s response to Jesus is such a strong statement of faith. When Simon Peter realized that Jesus was calling him to be his disciple he fell to his knees and said, Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man. When Isaiah heard the Lord he proclaimed his unworthiness. The Lord asked, Whom shall I send? Isaiah responded, Here I am Lord, send me! When Cardinal Karol Wojtyla stepped onto the balcony as Pope John Paul II, he said, Do not be afraid! Isaiah, Simon Peter and Saint John Paul II are teaching us that being a disciple, a follower of Jesus Christ, is not about being worthy. It is about being willing. If we wait until we are worthy, we will never begin. If we are willing, we have already begun to follow Jesus. TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE Cuando era niño a mis primos mexicanos les gustaba contarme cuentos de la Llorona, la mano negra, bultos que flotaban en los cementerios, y lucecitas azules que aparecían sobre tesoro escondido por bandidos de siglos pasados. Estos cuentos también se escuchaban en el Valle del Río Grande de Texas, donde me crié. Confieso que me fascinaban y asustaban esas misteriosas leyendas, así como los relatos de santas y santos que levitan, tienen visiones, escuchan voces celestiales o chorrean sangre de llagas que recuerdan las llagas de Cristo en la cruz. He escuchado el llanto de la Llorona, y me parece haber visto la mano negra. Sé que mi carro se movió solo en un lugar donde murieron unos niños sobre un autobús escolar. Los latinos sabemos que hay muchas cosas que no se pueden explicar, simplemente se vive con el misterio. Y a quien no le atrae un buen misterio? El sentido del misterio nos atrae y nos intimida en el misticismo de los santos cristianos. EL LLAMADO DE DIOS Al ser confrontado con el poder y la majestad de Dios, la primera respuesta del profeta Isaías es reconocer su pecado. Ay de mí, estoy perdido porque soy un hombre de labios impuros, dice en voz alta. De la misma manera, con las redes de pesca repentinamente llenas con la orden de Jesús, Pedro cae de rodillas y clama: Señor, apártate de mí porque soy un pecador. Después Pedro se levanta, deja atracado su bote y sigue a Jesús. Isaías también experimentó un cambio impresionante. Cuando escuchó al Señor que decía: A quién voy a enviar? Quién irá por nosotros?, Isaías respondió: Aquí estoy, envíame. Somos llamados diariamente por el Señor resucitado. Se nos recuerda del poder salvador del Evangelio y sabemos de corazón que, como escribió san Pablo, creer en otra cosa no nos llevará a ningún lado. Qué se necesita para que dejes el pecado? SACRAMENTOS Bautismo para los Niños: Bautismos para niños menores de 7 años se celebran durante el año (excepto en el tiempo de Cuaresma). Se requiere que los papás y padrinos asistan a una preparación. (Antes de escoger padrinos les pedimos que sean casados por la iglesia o solteros y tengan el sacramento de la Confirmación) Catequesis de Adultos (R.I.C.A.) Domingos 10:00 am. Los adultos pueden recibir los sacramentos del Bautismo, Primera Comunión y la Confirmación después de un tiempo de formación. Sacramentos para Niños y Adolescentes:Todos los niños deben asistir a las clases de catecismo cada miércoles a las 6:30pm. (Inglés). Para los que no puedan los miércoles o prefieran en español, también está la opción los Domingos a las 10:00 am. Unción de los enfermos: Por favor notifique a la oficina parroquial de algún familiar o amigo admitido al hospital y que desee el Sacramento de la Unción. Matrimonio Comuníquese a la oficina parroquial preferiblemente con 6 meses de anticipación como mínimo a la fecha deseada. Quinceañeras NO es un Sacramento pero es un sacramental: Se pueden celebrar cualquier sábado mientas esté disponible la Iglesia, excepto durante la Cuaresma.
