This week we will look at the period leading into the English Civil War at the development of the Lectionary from Cranmer to the current day. Labyrinth Work Party, Saturday, April 14th, 9:00 a.m. Refreshments will be served.

We will need donations of wine/appetizers. Hope you will join us for this fun evening! We are in need of volunteers for the Friday plant delivery! Please call Sandy Ricks ( ) if you can help. Call Ellen Gallup ( ) if you can contribute baked goods, etc. The "Junque Shop" (trash and treasure) will be in the Johnson Room and needs lots of donations (no clothes)... Call Susan Cormier ( ). Vendors will include Chapel Pantry Marketplace and Julie's Glass WESC Herb Sale/Bazaar proceeds will go to outreach ministries. 5 AROUND THE DIOCESE, COMMUNITY, AND THE WORLD A Prayer for the Military Lord, we thank You for the men and women that protect this nation. As they protect us, we pray that You will protect them. You know where they will be today and we pray that You will be there with them to guide them through whatever challenges and trials they face. Amen

6 A Prayer for Government Leaders God of power and might, wisdom and justice, through you authority is rightly administered, laws are enacted, and judgment is decreed. Assist with your spirit of counsel and fortitude the President and other government leaders of these United States. May they always seek the ways of righteousness, justice and mercy. Grant that they may be enabled by your powerful protection to lead our country with honesty and integrity. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen April is the Month of the U.S. Military Child. These 2 million children play an important role in the U.S. military community. Our nation's "youngest heroes" need prayer for healthy and connected relationships, easy adjustments with frequent moves, freedom from stress when a parent or both parents deploy. They also need prayer for help and hope when dealing with traumatic losses. Pray also for the children in the 31 nations where the Military Ministry of Cru serves to help restore and build healthy families with the challenges of having military parents. "Dedicate your children to God and point them in the way that they should go, and the values they've learned from you will be with them for life." Proverbs 22:6 (TPT)

8 Sunset during Stations of the Cross Good Friday Service 2018 I Go Back by Lee Davis Father Richard Rohr suggests in his book Immortal Diamond, "The reason we have to keep coming back to church each Sunday is because last Sunday's message did not work at any deep level." Immortal Diamond is a great book and I would recommend it to anyone. It's fascinating. But this statement is one of the very rare instances where I disagree with Fr Richard. I feel there are positive reasons we go back each week, not the least of which is that last week's message stirred me deeply and I want to hear more! At an equal level, I go back because I love the Body of Christ that is Eastern Shore Chapel; those precious souls in pews all around me feed me and strengthen me. They provide the assurance that I am not in this alone. I am drawn back to this sacred place each Sunday, and other days, too, not because I "should" but because I have experienced the very presence of the Holy Spirit so many times over the years. It is a thin place, a place that is for me unspoiled by the worries of the world. It welcomes me every time I return, not unlike our family dog, tail-wagging, thrilled to see me. Elsewhere in his book Father Richard says, "Wherever there is faith, hope, and charity, there is a church and there is God, and that is the primary church I believe in." That pretty well describes Eastern Shore Chapel, I'd say. Parish Book Store
