2 PASTOR S PAGE Dear Friends in Christ, This year will be a unique year for us at both parishes. The Catholic Charity Appeal is underway, and will be conducted in January and February. This is an earlier start then other years because both parishes will also be participating in the Grateful for God's Providence Capital Campaign. The Diocesan Capital Campaign will begin in March. This is a Diocesan Campaign in which the Bishop, looking at the current and future status of our Diocesan Church, began this Campaign to build current endowments for the future of our diocese. The campaign includes a percentage of the pledges that will return to the parishes. Whatever amount is collected from each parish from dollar one, that parish will receive 40% up to goal. Let us continue to give thanks to God for His generosity and providence. Let us prayerfully consider how the Lord is calling us to give this year to assist others and also support each parish community. The buildings that we are responsible for at both locations are in constant need of upkeep. The age of each building and the seasonal changes in this area are factors that need to be considered as we continue to support our local communities. Another reality, especially in this present age, there are less families attending and contributing to the financial stability to keep up the properties. The active families of each church are the ones who are financially contributing to the maintenance and care of each location. For the time being, each parish still holds their own accounts and budgets. This is continually being evaluated and communicated to the Trustees and Parish Council of each parish. Thank you so much for your continued sacrifices and support of each parish. Please pray for the guidance of the Holy Spirit for wisdom to approach the future. We welcome the Missionary Image of Our Lady of Guadalupe to our parish communities on Monday, January 28th. She will be at Saint Joseph Church from 8 am - 12 (noon). Please join us for Mass, prayer, presentation and adoration. Saint Joseph Church will be open during this time for personal prayer. She then will be transferred to Saint Patrick Church. Saint Patrick Church will be open from 1-6 pm for personal prayer. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament will begin at 7 pm followed by the Rosary, and benediction will close our time at 9 pm. Confession will be offered during adoration from 7-8 pm. May we ask our Blessed Mother to intercede for us to be strengthened in faith, hope and charity. Please keep our 2nd graders in prayer as they prepare for their First Reconciliation (Penance) on Saturday February 2nd. May all of us trust in the mercy and love of God through His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the power of the Holy Spirit. Sincerely in Christ, Father Scott TIME/TALENT/TREASURE The US bishops pastoral on stewardship reinforces the passage from 1 Corinthians: Because its individual members do collectively make up the Body of Christ, that body s health and well-being are the responsibility of the members the personal responsibility of each one of us. We all are stewards of the Church. Then the image will be transferred to Saint Patrick for public prayers and will close with evening adoration, rosary, presentation and adoration until 9 pm. Many miracles have been attributed to Our Lady's intercession with this image. May her motherly care bless both communities. Mrs. Lillian Cabral, 91, mother of Rev. Clifford Cabral, recently passed away. There were no calling hours. Her funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, January 23, at St. Christopher Church in Tiverton. She was buried in Our Lady of Fatima Cemetery, Little Compton. May she rest in peace. Please keep Fr. Cabral and his family in your prayers. 958 page 2
