1 Trinity Lutheran Church 424 E. Gilman St. New York Mills, MN Pastor Kirk Douglas Trinity Lutheran Church strives to connect people to Jesus by demonstrating God s unconditional love. Love God boldly, Grow in faith continually, Serve others joyfully. SECOND SUNDAY AFTER THE EPIPHANY January 20, 2019 IN OUR PRAYERS: God invites us to cast all our cares and worries upon Him because He cares for us. Today we cast upon God those who are sick, awaiting surgery or recovering, especially Gunard Heikkila, Dan Cresswell, Greg Mickelson, Wade Salo, Lois Sailer, Chase Keskitalo, Neil Perala, Doug Weller, Georgia Bentley, Mike Baune, Jon Kumpula, Jim Nielsen, DuWayne and Mary Roberts, Lillian Mindermann, Jennifer Windels, and Tom Hahn. We pray for God s comfort for the family and friends of Rev. David Maki. AS WE GATHER: We all have many cares and worries in life. Chances are you arrived to worship this morning carrying some of those concerns upon your heart and mind. If that s true, know that today s service is designed for you! As we witness Jesus first miracle at the Cana wedding feast, we also learn from the experience of His mother, Mary. Mary was worried about the host family they ran out of wine! She wanted to help, but she knew only one thing to do. She committed the situation to Jesus, knowing He would take care of it. And that He did! Much more than helping provide refreshment for wedding guests, Jesus revealed His power and glory. And His disciples believed in Him (John 2:11). Today, may you do the same. Commit your concerns to the One who gave Himself for you and invites you to believe in Him. READINGS: Isaiah 43:1 7, Romans 6:1 11, Luke 3:15 22
2 Image: Now there were six stone water jars there for the Jewish rites of purification, each holding twenty or thirty gallons. Jesus said to the servants, Fill the jars with water. And they filled them up to the brim. And He said to them, Now draw some out and take it to the master of the feast. So they took it. When the master of the feast tasted the water now become wine, and did not know where it came from (though the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. John 2:6 9 IMPORTANT INFORMATION TRINITY S ANNUAL MEETING is TODAY. There will be a potluck meal beginning at 11:30 a.m. following the late service in the fellowship hall. 4 GENERAL ANNOUNCEMENTS Light for All Nations is the Epiphany theme of The Lutheran Witness magazine this month. We see so much darkness in the daily news we may struggle to see past it. Some days we may become discouraged and or even lose hope. Rejoice! Christ our Light has come! He calls us into relationship with Him every day and sends us out as lights in a dark world to point others to His saving grace. How do we do that? Pick up a copy and read more about it! PLEASE NOTE THAT THE MAILING ADDRESS FOR OLGA KREKULA is 201 S Tousley Ave. #102 NYM MN Please DO NOT send her mail to Hadley House. Thanks! SERVING FUNERALS AND CHURCH CLEANING: It s been our practice at Trinity to have members assigned for these tasks and it is once again time to format new lists. We will be doing what we did in 2017 by giving you an opportunity to sign up if you would be willing to serve at Funerals or help with Church Cleaning. We will also have a sign-up for if you would be willing to bring bars for funerals. We have 4 leaders, Karen Dreyer, Carol Ehnert, Diane Duchene & Becky Becker that take charge of calling the members for serving and bringing bars for the funerals. These are opportunities for you to serve and we pray that you would be willing to do so. JANUARY READING CHALLENGE CHAPTERS 1-33
