3 TODAY S RESPONSIVE READING ADORATION PASTOR: Before we ask God for anything in prayer, we should begin our prayers with adoration to God. To adore God is to worship God for who he is and to praise God for what he has done. Psalm 145:1-2 says: I will extol You, my God, O King; And I will bless Your name forever and ever. Every day I will bless You, And I will praise Your name forever and ever. CONGREGATION: Lord, we worship you as the only living God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. You are our Creator, Sustainer, and Redeemer. It is in you that we live, move, and have our being. There is no one like you on earth. There is nothing to be compared to you in heaven. You are great and greatly to be praise, for your greatness is unsearchable. CONFESSION PASTOR: Our first requests in prayer should be prayers of confession to God. In confession, we acknowledge our wrongdoing, turn away from our sins, and cry out to God for forgiveness and cleansing in Christ. 1 John 1:9 says: If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. CONGREGATION: Lord, we confess to you our sins and our sinfulness. We have not loved you with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength or loved our neighbors as ourselves, as you have commanded. By the promise of your word and the finished work of Christ, we ask you to forgive us of our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. THANKSGIVING PASTOR: As we make our petitions known to God, we give thanks for what God has already done. We praise God for his grace and mercy toward us. Psalm 100:4-5 says: Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, And into His courts with praise. Be thankful to Him, and bless His name. For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting, And His truth endures to all generations. CONGREGATION: Lord, we acknowledge that every good and perfect gift comes down from you, the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow due to change. You have blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ. And we offer you our grateful praise for all your manifold blessings to us. SUPPLICATION PASTOR: It is our great privilege to bring our needs and wants to God in prayer. In supplication, we present our requests to God, expressing our dependence and confidence in God to meet our needs. Philippians 4:6 says: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; CONGREGATION: Lord, we declare our total dependence upon you. We need you to change us, help us, strengthen us, guide us, and protect us. Only you can do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. We trust you to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think according to the power at work within us, for your glory. INTERCESSION PASTOR: As we take our requests to God, we must not forget the needs of others. Through intercession, we go to God in prayer on the behalf of others, as we would want others to pray for us. Ephesians 6:18 says: praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints CONGREGATION: Lord, we pray your blessings on our brothers and sisters in Christ who also need you to move on their behalf. We pray for those who are less fortunate. We pray for the sick, grieving, and troubled. We pray for those who are in authority over us. And we pray for the salvation of our family and friends who do not know Christ as Savior and Lord. ALL: In Jesus name, Amen. 3

12 12 M i n i s t r y O p p o r t u n i t i e s Belize Mission Trips If you re looking for mission trip opportunities I would like to encourage you to look into the mission trip opportunities listed below. They are not Cornerstone sponsored mission trips but they are sponsored by Cornerstone members, Ron and Star Nelson and their ministry Sowing Seeds of Joy. As the Minister of Evangelism and Missions along with Pastor McKissic, we encourage you to reach out to the Nelson s for more details if you re interested in going on a mission trip to Belize. ~ Min. Fred Griffith ABOUT THE MISSION TRIPS A missions trip to Belize promises to be an experience unlike any other. Our partnerships with passionate and poignant outreach organizations give our participants the unique opportunity to intimately serve the people of Belize. At the same time, team members are trained in cross-cultural ministry and more importantly, discipled and ministered to. Opportunities will be given to impact hundreds of families, men, women, youth, boys and girls by conducting an evangelistic outreach campaign during the country's annual agricultural showcase and festival. Prior to taking this trip and while on this trip, team members are empowered to share their faith through training, outreaches, tools, and resources that aid them in presenting the Gospel in a clear, biblical, and positive way. Team members will distribute Bible tracks, pray for hundreds and engage in service projects to benefit members in the local community. The committed role of Sowing Seeds Of Joy will be to have travelers experience a more evangelistic lifestyle, to participate and pay a vital role in God s story for the people of Belize. There are two trips planed this year for Belize. The first is scheduled for April 29 - May 7 and involves the aforesaid assignment; the second is scheduled for July 1-8. This trip will entail empowering and equipping youth (ages 13 - up) to minister to youth in Belize by assisting SSOJ in conducting a film camp. This trip creates an experience for traveling youth to connect and fellowship with Belizean youth and participate in a film camp which provides opportunities for young people to tell their stories and discover their strengths through film making. In a very orchestrated four day workshop, traveling youth, their chaperones, and youth of Belize will be placed in teams and empowered to create films around stories from their own lives. As a preamble and in preparation for the July trip, SSOJ is having a film camp here in Dallas - March The cost to travel to Belize for both mission trips is $1,900 per person ($250 non-refundable deposit required). The cost covers international travel, domestic travel, food on the field, lodging, project fee, and mission insurance. In preparation for both trips, 6-8 training sessions will be conducted by SSOJ staff. That training will take place at the SSOJ office, designated times at the church, and a planned and well orchestrated local evangelism outreach event.
