2 I M PA C T R E P O R T Dear Good Shepherd, I love being a pastor. Perhaps I don t tell you that enough. But more than that, I love being the pastor of Good Shepherd. Not because the facilities are so great but because the people are. Something about your optimism, your boldness, your honesty and your faith make getting up and coming to work a privilege. This first ever Impact Report will utilize words, images and even statistics to capture all the ways that you are living out what it means to invite all people into a living relationship with Jesus Christ. 3 BAPTISMS We celebrate and acknowledge the power of the Holy Spirit to change, guide and inspire us baptisms recorded since 1991 baptisms in =10 baptisms Victor, originally from Cuba, had been through a lot in his 68 years of life. He was incarcerated by Fidel Castro, divorced many times, hurt by the church and practiced in the Yoruba (a sect of Santeria) occult for 14 years. Life-long patterns of anger and hurtful thoughts plagued Victor despite visiting Good Shepherd a few times. During a conversation with Latino Ministry Pastor Sammy Gonzalez, he expressed his desire for something new. Something to break free from the cycles of pain and torment. 4 After a few conversations, Victor responded to the movement of the Holy Spirit and the seed planted in his heart by the people of Good Shepherd. He accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior and asked Pastor Sammy to help him get rid of the occult symbols he wore for more than 10 years. With a pair of scissors, Pastor Sammy cut the bracelet, discarded the beads and Victor celebrated his brand-new life in Christ. On July 9, Victor was baptized as an outward sign of his commitment Jesus Christ.

Many people do not give to the church simply because they think someone else has it covered. But that s not true. The financial burden of the church s facilities and operating costs are spread out amongst ALL people who call a church home. This is what a healthy church looks like. We are looking for people who recognize that God has called them into something greater than themselves. We are looking for people who will obey the biblical command to tithe and to live a life that s generous with resources, time and energy. We want to see people stretch themselves as they give sacrificially and ultimately, we want God to receive all the glory. Every single bit of it. Because we are giving back to him what was his to begin with.
