3 After spending time in prayer and discussing with my family the commitment necessary to be an active part of the TN Church of God Student Leadership Team, I commit to the following: I acknowledge the Lordship of Jesus Christ in my life. The Bible commands us to abstain from every appearance of evil (1 Thessalonians 5:22 NAS). Student Leadership Team members are expected to avoid alcohol, tobacco, and other illegal drugs. Members are also expected to stay away from places that could be a hindrance to their witness. I commit to supporting the leadership of the Tennessee Youth Ministries as well as the other members of the Student Leadership Team by being loyal in words and actions. If there is a problem, I will go directly to the person with whom I have an issue. I will strive to live out Ephesians 4:29. I commit to attend two planning meetings consisting of possible overnight stays in April or May, and September (at Fall Retreat). I commit to attend and support State Youth Events Youth Convention and Fall Retreat I will be available to communicate and promote State Youth Convention, Fall Retreat, and Youth Camps at area/state/district youth events. 6 SYC 2018 IMPORTANT INFORMATION Registration Forms The following forms must be completed & returned by the February 7 deadline: signed registration form for each student & counselor, roster/ rooming list & t-shirt order form. When completing your roster/rooming list, please note that you should have an adult leader (recommended age 21+) in each room. Registration Fees A pre-registration fee of $10 per person must be included with forms & returned by the deadline. Fees are $110 per person/4 per room, $120 pp/3 per room, $140 pp/2 per room, $280 1 per room Please collect pre-registration fees and send ONE check for your group payable to: TN CHOG STATE YOUTH. Please do not send cash through the mail. The balance of your group s registration fees will be due at the convention. This can be paid by cash and/or check. Once again, please collect the balance from your students and pay with ONE check. Unfortunately, we are unable to accept credit/debit cards at this time. Late Registrations Registrations postmarked after February 7 WILL BE subject to a late fee of $10 per person. We cannot guarantee room availability for late registrants. Final Convention Registration at the Park Vista Onsite registration will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday March 23. Your hotel rooms will not be available prior to 4:00 pm. Upon arrival at the hotel, the adult leader in charge of your group s registration should proceed to the Garden View area (downstairs). DO NOT REGISTER AT THE FRONT DESK. Our hotel registration area is limited. In order to minimize confusion, we request that students not come to the registration area. Convention T-Shirts All t-shirt orders are PRE-ORDER & PRE-PAY. If a student doesn t order or pay for a shirt at the time of registration, they may not get a shirt. There will be very limited quantities of shirts available for sale at the convention. The T-shirt order deadline is the same as registration deadline, February 7. No guarantees on shirts ordered after this date. T- shirt prices are $10 for short sleeve & $15 for long sleeve. Payment must be included with your registration. Please complete the T-shirt order form for your group and include with your registration material.

7 Youth Ministry Conference We have added a session to encourage, inspire & help train youth leaders & pastors. Our convention speaker, Chip Taylor, will lead this session. This conference is open to all of the adult leaders in your group. We highly encourage the participation of all leaders who work consistently in your local youth ministry. This conference will take place during the same time frame as the Saturday morning student session. We have a special session planned for students with guest illusionist John Michael Hinton. We will have designated adult supervision for the student session, so you don t have to be concerned about your students. We will discuss this more during the leader s meeting at convention. It would be helpful in our preparation to get an approximate number of leaders who plan to participate in the conference. Please include a count on your roster sheet. Student Leadership Conference We will offer an optional conference opportunity for students who are interested in developing Christian leadership skills. Please include an approximate count of students who are interested in participating in this conference on your roster sheet. SYC Programs It has been our experience that some students do not desire to have their own personal convention program. In an effort to reduce waste, we would like to print only the amount of programs that will be utilized. Please indicate the approximate number of programs you need for your group on your roster sheet. We are more than happy to print a program for each person in your group if you desire. Form may also be downloaded from our website. Please advise them to complete the forms & return by February 15. Phone interviews & selection of candidates will take place during the month of February Other Helpful Info The Park Vista does not offer roll away beds We request that the hotel book group rooms as close together as possible. The hotel will do their best to accommodate requests, but with a group of 700+, we cannot guarantee special requests. We will not offer the Friday night pizza function this year. We are trying to negotiate a breakfast option with the hotel. More info on this option in the coming weeks

We believe that God has something special in store for our TN Church of God students in the coming year, beginning with our State Youth Convention in March! He has put together an exceptional group of leaders for SYC. Below you will find some information regarding our 2018 line-up: Chip Taylor, Speaker & Conference Leader Chip is a captivating speaker with a contagious love for Jesus and a huge heart for young people. He is passionate about empowering leaders, caring for hurting students and impacting the world. He is a 20-year veteran in student ministry and currently is a student ministry pastor in Morganton, North Carolina. In addition to serving as our main convention speaker, Chip will also lead a youth ministry training conference for youth pastors & leaders. John Tibbs, Worship Leader John is a rising songwriter and worship leader. Hailing from the Midwest, John has built his success the old-school way; by playing shows, writing great songs, and truly caring about those he meets along the way. John s goal for our time together is to create and share music that connects people to Jesus. Some of you had the opportunity to hear John lead worship at Fall Retreat. We are excited to have John along with his band join us for SYC 18. John Michael Hinton, Illusionist Using no sorcery at all, John Michael Hinton performs captivating illusions that make people doubt their senses, question their reality, and search for answers. He fakes the supernatural to cause people to desire the Real Supernatural! In his words, My goal is simply to be a tool that God can use to spread His incredible gospel. If my illusions earn me the right to be heard, awesome, but it s the heart of God that I want you to truly walk away remembering.
