Pastor: When Anna recognizes Jesus in the temple, People: God is there. Pastor: This very morning, People: God is here. Pastor: In the future we cannot see, ALL: God is there. Let us worship God! 3 PRAYER OF CONFESSION ALL: Holy God, we know that you have been present to us throughout all of history, even throughout our own histories. We know you will be with us in our future. Yet often we don t live as if we know that. You ask no more of us than what we can provide. As Anna recognized in Jesus the redemption of her people, we recognize in Jesus God s saving grace for us, yet we often fail to rejoice and to share this good news. Forgive us, make us wise and joyful and strong so that we live in the understanding of your never ending love. Amen. 8 At United Church on the Green, we seek to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly with God, following in the footsteps of Jesus. We are also a progressive Protestant Christian church, a member of the nationwide United Church of Christ (UCC). We have a long history. Established Meetinghouse was built in The Amistad Incident? Abolition of slavery? The 1970 Black Panther trials? Divestment in South Africa? United was there. We believe God is still speaking to the world today... and we're trying to listen. Not a "The Bible says it. I believe it. That settles it." kind of church. Questions encouraged. (Actually, they re necessary.) "Open and Affirming" of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people since We are working with God to build a better future. Not interested in "saving souls" or "converting the heathen."
