2 Page 2 COMING UP IN OUR WORSHIP SERVICES by Pastor Bruce We begin the month of May with the final message in our short series from Hebrews 10:19-25 verses in which we see some of what God desires from those of us who are followers of Jesus. We will also have child dedications during those worship services for which parents have requested to dedicate their children. On May 13 th, Mother s Day, Keith Decker will bring a message from the first chapter of Jeremiah. Sunday, May 20 th, will be an extra special day as we recognize our High School and College graduates. Dr. Greg Fell, our Evangelical Free Church Rocky Mountain District Superintendent will be sharing from God s Word on May 27 th and Pastor Rick Scovel will have the opportunity to preach on June 3 rd. A Discussion Guide is available online (on our website) each week a guide that, when I preach, accompanies my message. This guide is usually posted on the website by Friday evening for those who might want to look it over in preparation for Sunday s message. If you would like to have this guide ed to you each week that it is available, please let us know by contacting the church office or with a note on the communication card that you should find in the bulletin and which you can place in the offering plate. Paper copies of the Discussion Guide are available on Sunday mornings in the back of our worship area near the main doors. Here is what we are planning for Sunday mornings during the upcoming weeks: May 6 Hebrews 10:24-25 = God s Desire for Christians: Let us Think About How to Encourage One Another May 13 Keith Decker May 20 Pastor Mike Carlson (Graduate Recognition Sunday) May 27 Dr. Greg Fell (Youth Ministry Team Commissioning) June 3 Pastor Rick Scovel You can always find out what our upcoming Scripture will be by going to our web site: On the Home Page you can also find a link that will take you to where you can listen to or download past messages shared at Mountain View Church. OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE IN CHILDREN S CHRISTIAN EDUCATION We have been blessed to have dedicated and capable teachers for our Sunday Morning Christian Education classes. Currently those teachers are: Janet Smalley 3 & 4-year-olds; Crystal Hedberg Pre-K & K; Dianne Allen 1 st & 2 nd Graders; Teresa Stevens 3 rd & 4 th Graders; & Bill Hedberg 5 th Graders. However, we could use volunteers to lead some of these classes during the summer months June, July, & August. Specifically, we really need a teacher for the Pre-K/Kindergarten class. And, if there are those who are able and willing to lead any of the other classes, our current teachers would be able to take a much-deserved break! And, after the summer quarter, we will be in need of some new regular teachers! After many years of ministry, Crystal and Bill Hedberg will be stepping away from teaching which opens the door for some others to use their gifts and share their love with the children God entrusts to us each week. Could YOU be one of those whom God desires to have make an impact in the lives of children? If so, please let me (Pastor Bruce), Pastor Mike, or the Church Office know. It would be really good to identify our future teachers sooner than later so that you can sit in and observe the classes, ask questions, and be better equipped to teach when your time comes!
3 Page 3 VITAL IMPACT - CHILDREN S MINISTRIES by Jaymi Anderson I didn t grow up going to church but I became a Christian at the age of 12 anyway. Why? Because I was continually shown love by men and women who poured into my life in the name of Christ. We didn t go to church, but we did attend Vacation Bible School. And, when I was in 5 th grade, I started attending youth group with my best friend. Her mom was one of the leaders and she faithfully drove me every week until I had the means to drive myself. As adults, we have an opportunity to influence children simply by being there. There are so many possible ways to make that happen welcoming your kid s friends into your home, coaching a recreation league team, and volunteering in programs that are important to kids. At Mountain View, we have several important programs that need your help. Teachers are needed in Children s Church, Christian Education hour, and Nursery. There are positions for all levels of commitment one-time, once per month, weekly, or substitute. Often, the curriculum is provided, so don t let that deter you. Please contact the main office to get connected to the leaders of these ministries. By supporting our kids, you support their friends and their families and you might even support someone like me who was just along for the ride. LIKE US ON FACEBOOK (listed as Mountain View Church) Check out our Mountain View Facebook Page. We will be posting events that are happening with our church as well as events happening in the Greeley area. There are a lot of opportunities to make a Vital Impact in our community!
