Our New Parish Website: ctkworc.org We want you to take note of our new website and its many modern features. All diocesan parishes were asked to create new websites in a collaboration with ecatholic and Flocknotes. It is part of a diocesan initiative to create better communications and evangelization through the use of more modern technology. And communications will be more instantaneous. You can find our new website by going to ctkworc.org. Try it today! We urge you to sign up for Flocknotes (free, of course) by providing your name, address and mobile phone at the bottom of the home page. COME TO DAILY MASS! 3 T S E PLEASE GIVE TO Partners in Charity! 269 Donors So Far = 29% of Our Families The goal for the Diocese this year is $5 million again. I hope you ll be generous in making a gift which reflects your gratitude to God for all you have. Please make a generous gift, a gift of mercy. Thank you! Donor envelopes can still be found in the rear of the church, near the large glass inner windows. Please be as generous as you possibly can and return the envelope in next week s collection or through the mail or by dropping it off at the rectory. Your gift will help the Diocese implement its essential charitable, pastoral and educational works. This vital campaign supports all 28 charitable, educational and ministry programs of the Diocese. It s the responsibility of all of us to help with these important ministries. It is Christ s work and we should all be partners in Christ s work. All the money that is raised supports diocesan programs for the entire year ahead. Catholic Charities served 50,000 people this past year alone. It provides food for the hungry, offers care to those who are sick or elderly, and helps to assist the homeless with shelter; provides a residence for families who have no place else to live; helps those with addictions and substance abuse find sobriety. Pernet Family Health Service receives a major grant; the Nazareth Home for Boys provides a stable life for boys from terribly dysfunctional families. Education: We help hundreds of needy students in our schools as well as our parish religious education programs; seminary education for about twodozen men who ll give the rest of their lives as priests; and sustain 60 retired priests who have given their entire lives to the service of the Church. Immigrants: We reach out to thousands of Latinos, Africans, Brazilian Portuguese and others. Locally: we offer programs for couples preparing for marriage, prepare new deacons for the Church and defend the lives of the unborn. INTERFAITH HOSPITALITY NETWORK HOSTING WEEK ~ APRIL 29 MAY 6 Christ the King will again be hosting the Interfaith Hospitality Network Program at 91 June Street in Worcester during the week of April 29 May 6. In the past, we at CTK have responded to their needs with overwhelming generosity in the provision of meals, chaperoning and overnight support. Donations of grocery store or CVS gift cards are appreciated to allow the guests the opportunity to shop for their own food & personal needs. Please feel free to call any of the coordinators to offer your time to this ministry. Your calls should be directed to one of the following: Celeste Hedge, ; Allen Stansky, ; or Janet Rauktis, Monsignor Sullivan is a Notary Public Monsignor Sullivan is a notary public. Should any parishioner need to have a document notarized you are welcome to call upon him. There is no fee. Just call the rectory should you need this service. HOSPITAL VISITS Msgr. Sullivan is honored to support you and your family during times of illness by visiting the hospitals. NEITHER UMASS (LAKE) HOSPITAL NOR MEMORIAL HOSPITAL PRO- VIDE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT PATIENTS RELI- GIOUS AFFILIATION. So, we are entirely dependent on information we receive from family or friends. St. Vincent s Hospital s records are excellent, and St. V s provides current information in a timely way. Please call the rectory to advise us that someone is in the hospital so that Msgr. Sullivan can visit that person. September Pilgrimage to Fatima & Rome Father Donato Infante is leading apilgrimagetofatimaand Rome fromseptember 2130with Deacon Steve Kohut of Our Lady of Czestochowa in Worcester, who is also the past president of Serra Club of Southern Worcester County. This coincides with the annual diaconate ordination in Rome, at which a Worcester seminarian, Alfredo Porras, is on track to be ordained. If you are interested in joining or seeing the itinerary, go to the website: LowGluten Hosts Available for Holy Communion For several years we ve been offering lowgluten hosts for those who cannot tolerate gluten. These hosts meet the requirements of the Catholic Church for Holy Communion in terms of ingredients and gluten content. The Holy See and the American bishops have endorsed certain breads that are low in gluten content. The hosts we use have gluten content of less than 0.01%. It is important for the person requiring this special host to speak to Msgr. Sullivan prior to Mass so that we can offer this special host to you. Would You Like Your Marriage Blessed? We ve learned, over time, that many of our young married parishioners have never entered into a sacramental marriage. In many instances this can be simply remedied. Any couple in a good (but currently nonsacramental) marriage should approach Msgr. Sullivan about having your marriage blessed. Generally, that process is far simpler than you would imagine. Why not give Msgr. Sullivan a call? JOIN THE CYC All those higher schoolers interested in participating in CYC activities (the annual retreat, boys basketball, the CYC musical, summer volleyball, etc.) will need to be registered with our CYC to participate. You can send an now to CTKCYC@gmail.com for registration and to learn about our upcoming events.

5 Who is a Godparent for Baptism? The issue of the selection of godparents is a very important one. Making a choice of a person who is (1) a fully initiated Catholic and (2) who will be an excellent role model in the faith for the child is important. In Church law, only one godparent is required, though most people prefer two and generally have two (if they can find two persons who meet the requirements below). A godparent must be a (1) baptized (2) confirmed and (3) practicing Catholic. By a practicing Catholic we mean that the person must come to Mass every Sunday. Their pastor must know them from Sunday Mass. A sponsor certificate from that person s home pastor, signifying all three, is mandatory. It must be received in advance of the baptism. Most often, pastors will not prepare a sponsor certificate for a proposed godparent if the 3 conditions above are not met. Parents should ask their proposed godparents to obtain their sponsor certificates well in advance of the date of the baptism. It must be presented to the pastor of the church where the baptism is to take place well in advance of the baptism. If a potential godparent is married he or she must be in a sacramental marriage. If unmarried he or she cannot be living with a person, for example. Their moral life should be exemplary in every way. If parents are unable to find two suitable candidates for godparents, they can have one godparent and one Christian witness. If a noncatholic is chosen to serve as a Christian witness (a practicing Protestant or Orthodox) he or she must be a Christian (not Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist, no religion, etc.) This person is listed in the baptismal register as a Christian witness, not a godparent.
