The'Incarnation' Webeginliferemarkablyvulnerable.Infantshavenoabilitytocareforthemselves, butneedlovingadultstonurturethem,keepthemwarm,andprotectthem.thiswas alsotrueofthebabyjesus.hecameintotheworldmuchlikeyouandidid.he neededmary,josephandotherstofeed,hold,change,teachandcareforhim.jesus, however,wasfarfromordinary andweprofessthatthischild,whosebirthweare preparingtocelebrate,isgodintheflesh. Buthowcanthisbe?HowdoweconceivethatGod,whoiseternalandnotbounded bytimeorspaceoranyofthosekindoflimitations,howdoweconceivethatthatgod becomesahumanbeing? Theologianscallthisparadoxtheincarnation.Somehow,JesusisbothfullyGodand fullyhuman7andthemiracleoftheincarnationisthatourgodcomestousso completelyandyetstillsovulnerably. AtChristmas,werememberthatGoddidnotwaitforustofindourwaytoheaven. Instead,GodemptiedGod sselfofallbutlovetocomeinthepersonofjesusforthe sakeofusall.jesusbecamevulnerabletosharelovewiththevulnerable.
