Marion, Ohio It s easy to understand why this song is popular. Everyone knows what it is like to feel grateful to God for fulfilling our basic human needs for nourishment, comfort, and safety. It s natural to think of these good things as blessings. Today s Gospel raises the question, Why do we call Mary blessed? In fact, in today s Gospel Reading, the virgin Mary is called blessed three times. Why? Not because of anything God has given her, like clothing or shoes or warmth or a good place to sleep. She is called blessed, because she believed and obeyed God, and because she is going to give birth to Jesus. What does it really mean to be blessed? Please take note of the schedule of Christmas Masses in this bulletin. As in years past, we have two Masses on Christmas Eve and two on Christmas Day (Midnight Mass being on Christmas Day). There will be beautiful music at all the Masses. If you are traveling for Christmas, we wish you a safe, holy, and happy holiday. Please remember that the Parish Office will be closed both the day before and the day after Christmas. Sincerely Yours, in Christ, Fr.
