3 Page 3 PROCLAMATION Fire Prevention Week October 6...;. 1.9,.9019 W.IIEREAS, the week of October 6-12, 2013, has been designated as "Fire Prevention Week" by the National Fire Protection Association and the International Association of Fire Chiifs; and W.IIEREAS, fire is a serious public saftty concern both locally and national!j, and homes are where residents are at greatest risk of fire, resulting in fire departments in the United States responded to more than 370,000 home fires; and W.IIEREAS, installing systems such as smoke alarms and residential fire sprinklers, as well as identifying potential hazards, can reduce the risk of home fires and property loss, injury or death due to fire; and W.IIEREAS, Orange County Fire Authority's first responders and Fire Prevention and Education stajf are dedicated to reducing the occurrence of home fires, home fire deaths and injuries through prevention and proper education; and W.IIEREAS, this year's theme, "Prevent Kitchen Fires!" e.ffective!j serve.s to remind us to stay alert and use caution when cooking to reduce the risk of kitchen fi"res. NOW, THEREFO~ I, L. Anthony Beal~ Mayor, on behalf of the City of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, do hereby proclaim October 6-12, 2013, as "Fire Prevention Week" throughout the City, and encourages all residents to check their kitchen for fi"re hazards and use saftty cooking practices.
