4 Announcing our New Executive Pastor Greenforest Community Baptist Church would like to welcome Rev. Kamau I. Welcher as our Executive Pastor. Rev. Welcher has been a member of Greenforest Community Baptist Church since He brings a wealth of knowledge, experience in ministry, and professionalism to the Forest.. For over a decade, he taught Mathematics in the DeKalb, Rockdale, and Gwinnet County School Systems. He served as the Pastor of Students and Families at Lake Oconee Community Church and the Director of the LOCC Youth Alliance serving over 170 students and their families from traditionally underserved communities of Greene and Putnam Counties; fostering a community of graduates with purpose and direction. He also served as Teacher and Minister at Stronghold Christian Church. Rev. Welcher graduated cum laude and holds a B. S. in Mathematics from Morehouse College and has studied at Emory University s Candler School of Theology. Rev. Welcher is married to Dr. Adria Welcher, Assistant Professor of Sociology at Morehouse College. They have four wonderful children and make their home in the greater Atlanta area. Please join us in holding Kamau, Adria and their children in our prayers as they transition to a new ministry setting. We look forward with anticipation and excitement to his Administration leadership as he works with our staff, deaconship and the various ministries at GCBC.

5 ONE GREAT DAY OF GIVING GOAL: To receive $759,000 by July 9, ,200 members submit $600 above and beyond their normal tithes by July 9, 2017 to help pay for additional campus repairs and renovations (e.g. Genesis Room, bathrooms, parking lot, etc.). Announcements sent to any other address will miss being placed in the weekly bulletin. Cancer Support Ministry June is National Cancer Survivor month. A reception honoring all Cancer Survivors will be held Sunday, June 25, 2017 in the Fellowship Hall immediately following the second service. Greenforest cancer survivors and members of the community will share their God stories of winning the battle over cancer. Light refreshments will be served. PLEASE JOIN US!!! Our New Member Fulfillment Hour Class meets each Sunday at 9:30am in Building 2 in the Library. New Members can complete the 4 week, 7-step process for new members during Sunday Fulfillment Hour or participate in a Super Saturday class that allows the 7- step process to be completed in one 3 hour session. New Members are also invited to attend Spiritual Gift classes at any time that they are held. The next class is August 12 th. For more information, contact Rev. 6 GREENFOREST PARTNERS WITH WORLD VISION INTERNATIONAL We are excited to announce that the World Vision Experience is coming to Greenforest Community Baptist Church campus Thursday, July 6th, through Sunday, July 9th. This is a LOVE FOR THE LEAST OF THESE weekend experience. Matthew 25 calls us to serve Jesus by serving the LEAST OF THESE. By taking advantage of touring the World Vision exhibit here on our campus, you will see how you can live out Matthew 25 on a daily basis as you come face-to-face with the LEAST OF THESE living around the world. This interactive exhibit raises awareness of sex trafficking, refugees, and the lack of child protection in the world s most fragile and vulnerable places. We pray that this weekend experience will be as transformative for the families in our congregation as it will be for the children we will sponsor. As shepherds of our small group Fulfillment Hour classes, we are asking that you please share this information with your class members and encourage them to participate by bringing friends and family to tour the exhibit beginning Thursday July 6 th and ending Revival Sunday, July 9 th. In addition to the World Vision exhibit, we will have a special Roundtable Discussion regarding the prevalence of sex trafficking of minors here in our own community. This discussion will be led by the group Street Grace. Street Grace is an Atlanta-based, faith-driven organization that collaborates with faith, business, and community leaders to help provide a path to end the $290 million illegal sex-trafficking industry that exist in Georgia alone. The Roundtable Discussion is scheduled for Saturday, July 8 th, from 10 am to 12 noon. You and your class members, along with additional ministries in which you belong can help make this experience a success by helping with tours, working with committees, and sharing your stories of mission work and sponsorship. 7 GREENFOREST ipraise YOUTH MINISTRY ipraise Sundays Teen Worship service is held every Sunday except the 3 rd Sunday at 10:45am. Midweek Bible Study is held on Wednesdays at 7:30pm. Man-UP Mentorship: Parents, if you are in need for a mentor for your teen, please sign up for the Man Up mentor program by visiting the Greenforest Events section of the website. The next Ascension Gavel Club meeting will be June 28 th. Greenforest Family and Friends, THANK YOU for your overwhelming support of our 2017 Vacation Bible School. Your prayers, participation, promotion, and provisions helped to make this a banner year. We touched over 2400 pre-school, children, youth, adults and keenagers (> 20 churches), raised over $900 in mission offerings and most important, 19 children gave their lives to Christ. To God be the Glory! 8 Greenforest Community Baptist Church Job Opportunity: Security Officer Greenforest Community Baptist Church has a full time/part-time (day, nights and weekend) position for a Security Officer. The Unarmed Security Officer serves as an integral part of the Trustee s/facilities team that ensures safety and security for staff, members and visitors. Primary responsibilities include: 1) ensure the church building and grounds are secure at all times and protected from fire, theft, vandalism, unauthorized visitors/intruders, and illegal/prohibited activities on Greenforest campus; 2) maintain a high level of visibility at all times, whether manning a post or on routine patrol; 3) respond to all on-campus emergencies; 4) control access to all buildings, conduct rounds of all buildings as directed. This position requires at least 2 years law enforcement or security or prior military (honorably served) experience preferred; a high school diploma or GED; knowledge in Microsoft Office and software; hold a current driver s license and is a participating member in a local church. Harvey (Eunice) Johnson (FP), whose mother, Claudia Mae Johnson, was funeralized Saturday, June 17 th in Vidalia, Georgia. The family of Dea. James (Shelia) Garner (WG), whose sister-in-law, Cora Garner, was funeralized on Friday, June 16 th in Gary, Indiana. The family of Sis. Brenda Ausberry (JYM), whose aunt, Clara Washington and cousin, Wallace Washington will be memorialized on June 23 rd in Ft. Washington, MD. The family of Sis. Bessie Williams (MN,) whose brother, Robert Williams, recently passed. Arrangements are pending. The family of Sis.
