1 FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER APRIL 24, 2016 Devotion to the Blessed Mother in May In May we celebrate Mothers. The Church honors Our Mother, Mary. We invite you in this month to pray and reflect with Mary. Join us for the Rosary before Mass on Sunday's. Join one of our groups preparing for consecration. On Monday nights beginning April 25 there is a DVD series connected with the book 33 days of Morning Glory (see page 3 of this bulletin for details). On the Feast of the Immaculate heart of Mary on June 4 we will have a public consecration to Mary. There will be a May Crowning of Mary on May 2 following the 8:30am Mass at the Mary Statute behind church. St. Maximilian Koble was considered a wild child until he completely changed his life in 1906 after he received a vision from Mary. St. Kolbe said, "I asked the Mother of God what was to become of me. Then she came to me holding two crowns, one white, the other red. She asked if I was willing to accept either of these crowns. The white one meant that I should persevere in purity, and the red that I should become a martyr. I said that I would accept them both." The Holy Spirit and Confirmation We celebrate Pentecost on May 15. The Holy Spirit came down upon Mary and the Apostles and the Proclamation of the Gospel went forth from Jerusalem to change the world forever. Come dressed in red to celebrate the Holy Spirit that unites us to God in love. On May 22, we will confirm our young men and women at the 11am Mass. May we pray as the Apostles did for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on our young men and women so the Gospel may be proclaimed and transform people of our times. Men of Faith Dinner Invitation: Calling all Men of Parish and School All Men of OLG Parish and School are invited to join me for a dinner hosted by OLG Men of Faith. This is a time for fellowship and getting to know each other better. Gospel for the 6th Sunday of Easter (May 1st) John 14:23-29 Jesus said to his disciples: Whoever loves me will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our dwelling with him. Whoever does not love me does not keep my words; yet the word you hear is not mine but that of the Father who sent me. I have told you this while I am with you. The Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give it to you. Do not let your hearts be troubled or afraid. You heard me tell you, I am going away and I will come back to you. If you loved me, you would rejoice that I am going to the Father; for the Father is greater than I. And now I have told you this before it happens, so that when it happens you may believe. 1

Cards are available in the Parish office for those wishing to give or send a remembrance card. The names of those to be remembered will be placed at the altar for the three days of remembrance. Please complete the requested information on the half sheet of paper and return it to the Parish Office. A donation will be given to the Get On the Bus program that will bring children and their guardians from throughout the state of California to visit their mothers in prison. We know you won t be able to resist tiny sandwiches and tasty scones. Sample sweet and savory delights while sipping your choice of teas. Reserving a table for 4 or more? Decorate it with your own linens, china, silverware and teapot. Signing up individually? Bring your teacup and meet some new friends. The Faith Formation Center will provide the tea and delicious treats! Reservations required choice of two seatings. Make your reservations by April 24th for either the 11:00am seating Adults $15, children $10. Children s tea service available at 11:00 seating only; or 2:00pm seating $15. VBS 2016 Attention Adults and Teens: Come and make a difference for our kids this summer!! Find out how you can share your talent with Son Spark VBS Do you like to sing? Do you like to make crafts? Then come to our informational meeting on May 1st at 12:00 noon in Stack Center and find out how you can participate and share your gifts and talents. With your involvement, you can make this a fun and engaging summer experience for our youth. We will use the book 33 Days to Morning Glory: A Do-It-Yourself Retreat In Preparation for Marian Consecrations by Fr. Michael Gaitley available for purchase in the church office. We will meet for six DVD presentations at 7:00pm on Mondays starting April 25th, and Tuesday May 31st. 4 Sharing God s Mercy The Bishop s Annual Appeal UPDATE: APRIL 14th Following is the status of our Annual Bishops Appeal Our Goal for 2016: $25, # of Registered Families 980 # of Acknowledged Donors to date: 81 Funds Raised (includes pledges) $24, We are currently at 97% of our goal for this years Bishop s Appeal. We are most grateful to all those who have contributed and look forward to completing this appeal. If you have not yet made your contribution consider doing so today. RCIA INQUIRY RCIA Inquiry Group meets Tuesdays at 7:00pm in Our Lady of Grace Room in Stack Center. You may join at anytime. This group is offered for those exploring membership in the Catholic Church. The next meeting will be April 26th and the topic is Catholics Practices. REGISTER FOR FESCO S 19th ANNUAL SHUFFLE WALKATHON San Leandro Marina-- --April 30th As coalition members of FESCO Our Lady of Grace is grateful to support FESCO in their 19th Annual Shuffle Walkathon. FESCO continues to provide homeless families with shelter, nutritious meals and a hand up in becoming self-sufficient. With your help and support, FESCO can continue to help homeless families. Register for the annual walk-a-thon Saturday, April 30th, this is a family, pet friendly event.
