1 TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME JUNE 19, 2016 Blessings to Fathers on Fathers Day St. Joseph, guardian of Jesus and chaste husband of Mary, you passed your life in loving fulfillment of duty. You supported the holy family of Nazareth with the work of your hands. Kindly protect our Fathers who trustingly come to you. You know their aspirations, their hardships, their hopes. Fathers look to you because they know you will understand and protect them. You too knew trial, labor and weariness. But amid the worries of material life your soul was full of deep peace and sang out in true joy through intimacy with God's Son entrusted to you and with Mary, his tender Mother. Assure those you protect that they do not labor alone. Teach them to find Jesus near them and to watch over him faithfully as you have done. Adapted Prayer from Pope John XXIII Changes in the Mass Schedules in September Beginning in September some Mass times will be adjusted to allow time for the praying of the Rosary and devotional prayers before our liturgies. Saturday will remain at 5PM and Sunday 7:30AM, 9:30AM, 11:30AM, and 1:30PM (Spanish). The School Mass will move to Wednesday at 8:15AM. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday Mass will be at 7AM. Building a Faith Foundation, Youth Outing on August 2 All who will be in High School this Fall we invite you to join us on a Trip to Carmel to visit the Tomb of St. Junipero Serra and the Mission he built. We will travel the Camino Real and see a Misson that brought Christianity and the Catholic Church to California. We will learn how to share our faith in Jesus Christ to transform our world. Call Robyn or the office for more details. Parish Picnic August 14 Plan to join us for Prayer, Community, Food and Fun at Lake Chabot Park beginning with Mass at 10AM. Pray for the Franciscans All the Friars from California will gather as a community on June 27 - July 1 to discuss and plan our future. Please pray for Us. Fr. Tom and Fr. Paul will be out of the office that week. GOSPEL FOR TWELFTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (JUNE 26TH) LUKE 9:51-62 When the days for Jesus being taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem, and he sent messengers ahead of him. On the way they entered a Samaritan village to prepare for his reception there, but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?" Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they journeyed to another village. As they were proceeding on their journey someone said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus answered him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head." And to another he said, "Follow me." But he replied, "Lord, let me go first and bury my father." But he answered him, "Let the dead bury their dead. But you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God." And another said, "I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say farewell to my family at home." To him Jesus said, "No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the kingdom of God." 1

4 REFUGEE ADOPTION PROGRAM DONATIONS TO OUR REFUGEE FAMILY As you know, OLG will be adopting a refugee family through the CCEB (Catholic Charities of the East Bay) Refugee Resettlement Co- Sponsorship Program. Because of the lengthy security and background checks that the families undergo before being allowed to enter the country, we don t know when our family will arrive and sometimes have very little advance notice. They could arrive in few weeks or not for several months, but when they come, we need to be ready. We are in the process of trying to collect donations of furniture and household goods for the family, but it will also be necessary to have a fund of money set aside for expenses the family will have when they first arrive. If you would like to donate to this fund, you can make a check out to Our Lady of Grace with the words Refugee Family in the memo line and put it in the collection basket or take it to the parish office. FLOWER REMEMBRANCE FUND We are grateful to Connie Linney who donated to the Flower Fund in memory of Joni and Kathleen Linney. Do you have some spare blossoms that you can share? Our Environment Committee needs your help to decorate the altar area each week, either by bringing in flowers from your yard or through a monetary donation towards the purchase of flowers. Flower donations envelopes can be found at the entrances of the church to make a donation in memory of a loved one. If you have any questions feel free to contact Jay at Your donation in honor of your loved one will be mentioned in the bulletin.
