1 to be Missional at Oakmont celebrating the past embracing the future Oakmont Baptist Church 1100 Red Banks Road Greenville, NC

2 Celebration Sunday April 27, 2014 This 50 Ways to be Missional at Oakmont brochure provides fifty different ministries in which Oakmonters are already involved. You may already be involved in one of these ministries. If this is true, please indicate this on your Commitment Card. You may wish to join an additional or different ministry. If so, indicate this on your card. There may even be a ministry in which you serve that is not listed in this brochure. If so, indicate this on your card. Writing in a particular ministry does not commit you to being a part of that ministry; it simply indicates this is an area in which you would be interested in serving. A leader from the ministry will contact you with additional information. A separate card has been designed for children and preschoolers so that they may participate as well. Please bring your completed card to the Celebration Sunday Worship Service at 10:30 a.m. on April 27, SAMPLE SAMPLE

3 In recognition of Oakmont s 50th Anniversary we want to celebrate what has happened in our history from our beginnings in 1964 on the campus of East Carolina College, to our first service on Red Banks Road, to the ministry in our community and around the world. However, we also want to embrace the future and our God who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine. As part of our year-long anniversary celebration we are asking Oakmonters (of all ages) to commit to giving 50 hours of service over the next year. This brochure details 50 ministries in which Oakmonters are already involved. A brief description of these ministries is provided along with contact information for those coordinating these ministries. If you have questions, feel free to be in touch with these people for additional information. Prayerfully consider the ways in which God may be calling you to serve this year. We invite you to select at least one of these opportunities where you may become the hands and feet of Christ in our church, community, or neighborhood. In this brochure you may find a new place where you can serve God in the coming year. You may already be involved with one or more of the ministries listed here and we are not asking you to take on additional areas of service outside your current involvements. We are inviting the entire congregation to be intentional and prayerful with the use of spiritual gifts, time, and efforts as we honor God during our anniversary year. During our Celebration Sunday Worship Service on April 27th we will ask each Oakmonter to turn in a Commitment Card indicating areas of ministry for the next year. A team leader from the ministry you select will contact you later to discuss your participation.

4 01 Preschool Sundays 9:40 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. and Wednesdays 6:00 p.m. & 6:45 p.m. Contact: Joshua Breazeale Preschoolers are like sponges! They soak up everything they see and hear. This is why giving our preschoolers an early start to building their Christian foundation is so important for their spiritual growth. Sunday school and Wednesday evening teachers play a vital role in the establishment of a preschoolers faith foundation. The faith lessons learned early in a child s life will impact him forever. Adults who love preschoolers are needed on Sunday mornings or Wednesday nights to nurture the faith of our youngest Oakmonters. 02 Children Sundays 9:40 a.m. & 11:00 a.m. and Wednesdays 6:00 p.m. & 6:45 p.m. Contact: Joshua Breazeale joshua@oakmontchurch.com Children ask lots of questions about their faith and salvation. They need caring adults to come along side of them to help answer such questions as well as show them on a deeper level what it means to love God and others. Music and mission leaders have the opportunity to encourage children to use their spiritual gifts as well as teach them what living a Christfocused, missional life is all about.
