These days will include a range of relaxation exercises, mindfulness practices, guided meditations and periods of quiet personal reflection. Some have lost hope and are in despair in our detention centres or in the community. Our Scripture and Catholic Social Teaching implores us to welcome the stranger. November 15th Yvonne Harte rsj A Pilgrimage to the Heart of God Through the Practice of The Centering Prayer The practice and fruits of Centering Prayer is a gradually deepening capacity to abide in the state of attention of the heart. 6 Let s Be Crafty Our regular craft mornings are back again on the first Thursday of each month (except July) from 10am until 12pm. A mixture of teaching new skills and BYO craft is offered. Cost: $10 4th March, 5th April, 3rd May, 7th June, 2nd August, 6th September, 4th October, 1st November & 6th December. Friends of the Garden An exciting new garden initiative is in place for You are invited to spend time enjoying the company of keen gardeners. Gatherings will be held on the second Thursday of the month (except July) from 1.00pm till 3.00pm. Activities will be led by what s happening in the garden and dreaming into its future. Tasks can include: seasonal tasks planning for the future planting propagation problem solving occasional excursions Wet day or extreme weather will be catered for in special activities. 8th March, 12th April, 10th May, 14th June, 9th August, 13th September, 11th October & 8th November. The Spirituality of Art Therese Quinn rsj Tuesdays from 7.30pm 9.00pm 27th February, 6th March, 13th March & 20th March We will create our own mandala, experience with clay, a mixed media collage with nature and enjoy paintings with contemporary artists. Materials will be provided, but bring your own if you wish. Cost per session: Subsidised: $15, Cost: $25 Gift: $35 David Hockney, line of trees, on an iphone The Joy of the Gospel Evangelii Gaudium Lectio Divina type prayer, praying with scripture contemplatively as living word for today and also using contemporary art, Visio Divina will be offered. Each session will run on Thursday from pm. Jesus in McDonalds Michael Donnelly During Lent 15th Feb: Woman at the Well, 22nd February: Martha of Bethany, 1st March: Mary of Bethany, 8th March: Women at the Last Supper, 15th March: Women at the Cross & 22nd March: Mary of Magdala Throughout the year, Women in the Gospels. 8 Earth Rituals Pope Francis in Laudato Si encourages us to create Earth Rituals and prayers that celebrate the interconnectedness of all that is. Margie Abbott has been facilitating such Rituals over the past four years. This year we are excited to host Earth Rituals here at St Joseph s By The Sea. We ask participants to bring a contemplative stance. The Earth Ritual will be created out of our reflections, thoughts, ideas, actions, poetry etc that have emerged in the time between Rituals. Friday from 9.00am until 3.00pm 3rd August Colleen O Dwyer, Jenny Glare & staff from MacKillop Family Services. On this day you will learn about some of the ministries that continue in the spirit of Mary MacKillop. Learn about some of the works of MacKillop Family Services. Teachers will be given the opportunity to explore how these inspiring stories can inspire motivate educators in their ministry. Morning tea and lunch provided. 10 Reading Circle Field of Compassion: How the New Cosmology is Transforming Spiritual Life by Judy Cannato Wednesdays from 7.30pm until 8.30pm 14th March, 18th April, 23rd May, 13th June, 22nd August, 19th September, 24th October & 21st November Facilitator: Carmel Crameri Donation per session: $5 Judy Cannato invites spiritual seekers to embrace the way in which religion and the spiritual path is informed and illuminated. Join this Reading Group to explore this essential text to deepen your understanding of the interconnectedness of our lives with the mystery of the cosmos. While it would be good to attend all sessions, if you are unable to come to any, this will not hinder the process.

11 Why do we set a fee? Welcome and hospitality are inherent to the Sisters of St Joseph. We use a three-tiered structure and invite participants to pay whatever they feel is most appropriate. The team run a shop which also helps to support a number of guests because we do not want anyone to miss out due to financial constraints. We are blessed to accept donations if they are offered.
