To see a video, go the church website, elktonumc.org and click on the Sermons link and there you will see a link to the You Tube site for our sermons. 2 nd GRADE BIBLES We re pleased to present Bibles today to our 2 nd grade Sunday School class Evan Achuff, Isabella Marshall, Jack Starrett and Lauren Zimmer. We pray that they will read these Bibles for many years to come, and as they do, will draw closer and closer to Christ. OPPORTUNITIES IN THE HOSPITALITY AREA TODAY Stop by the tables in the hospitality area today after worship where you can sign up to help in two ways in the coming weeks. On October 15 th, we ll be having our next BLOOD DRIVE, so you can sign up to donate blood or help by being a greeter or canteen worker. But if you can donate blood, please do, for the need is great! Secondly, on Saturday, October 21 st, our church is co-sponsoring a 5K Run/Walk/Stroll to benefit dementia/alzheimer s research at Fair Hill. The event is being held in memory of the Rev. Jim Jones, and begins at 9 a.m. Members of the Stewardship Committee will be at a table this morning to help you sign up! HARVEST FOOD FESTIVAL starts next Sunday. You ll be given an empty grocery bag as you leave worship next Sunday (10/8) and are asked to fill it up and bring it back with you on the 15 th. There will be a truck at the back door of the church in which you can put your donation. All of this food will go to fill the shelves of the Immaculate Conception food pantry (our mission partners). WANT TO DISCUSS IMMIGRATION AND DACA ISSUES? Then you re invited to The Wired Word discussion group, which will meet next on Thursday, October 12 th at 7 p.m. in the Chapel. Facilitated by Pastor Ray, the Wired Word group gives people a chance to discuss modern issues from a faith perspective. As Pastor Ray writes, Immigration is a political hot topic these days. We are called to welcome the stranger, but too often we fail to set aside our politics and engage the very real people and needs that are right in front of us. Come and find out what we can do. ATTENTION WOMEN! Don t forget to sign up for the annual Women s Retreat, which will take place January 12-14, 2018 in Ocean City MD! Brochures containing all the details about the retreat are on the table across from the Welcome Center. The first installment payment is due this week! CLASSIC CHRISTIANS OCTOBER MEETING will take place on Friday, October 20 th at 6:30 p.m. in Weldin Hall. 9 Elkton UMC s Women s Retreat 2018 January We will be returning to the fabulous Dunes Manor Hotel in Ocean City, MD where each of us will have oceanfront rooms!

10 Registration: Come and be a part of this year s EUMC Women s Retreat Ordinary Women, Extraordinary Deeds We ll hear about and be inspired by some of the seemingly ordinary women of the Bible who stepped out in faith and were able to accomplish extraordinary deeds! The Weekend will be filled with times of sharing, devotion, moving testimonies and lots of fun, food and fellowship. There will be sessions throughout the weekend, but also free time to rest, relax and reconnect with yourself and friends, both old and new! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The retreat begins on Friday evening at 7:30 and ends on Sunday by noon. You may check into the Dunes Manor anytime after 3 pm on Friday.
