Harvest Thanksgiving is being celebrated next Sunday October 7 th. We are appealing to the congregation to bring in goods for a local food bank. A list of items needed is on the notice board in the porch. The Food Bank would also appreciate toiletries such as toothbrushes, razors, shower gel and soap 9

Please see the notice board in the porch The next meeting of the Churchill Group will be at 7 Merchiston Avenue on Tuesday 16 th October at 7.30 p.m. the Scottish Church in the 20 th Poppies had a display of red poppies outside their church for Remembrance Sunday and we thought that this was something we could do. We plan to create a shape the same as our logo and to cover it with poppies. We have 3 patterns available for anyone who would like to help make some. One is a crochet pattern and 2 are knitting. There are samples of the finished item on the front of the pattern folders at the 10

back of the church. If you are willing to help then please take a pattern and some wool if you have none of your own. There is some red wool which we have collected from Charity shops.

There are a couple of sets of spare needles and also crochet hooks if you need one. It does not matter what wools or size of needle you use for the poppies. Size is not important. Please put finished items in the box at the back of the church. If anyone wants a lesson in crochet I can do it after church anytime you want. Jean Simpson Collect postcards and used stamps for Leprosy Mission Scotland Leprosy Mission Scotland works in seven countries to the help of used stamps. Now Leprosy Mission Scotland is also collecting postcards both new and those that have been sent through the post. A basket has been placed by the southwest window to collect any postcards or used stamps of all kinds. The stamps should have a 5mm paper surround. Please support this initiative. Anne Elgood. 11
