Dear Parishioners, This Sunday, Sep. 16, after the Divine Liturgy you are invited to take part to the One World Day Festival, on Martin Luther King Blvd. The Romanian Garden will be filled by Romanians and visitors. An artistic program will include: a band, a choir, soloists and poems as well as children dancers. The entire Romanian community in Cleveland, from all churches, will come together to salute the centennial of the union of Greater Romania in Please, plan to come and also visit the other 25 cultural gardens! We will have the Divine Liturgy and responses given by the sisters of Transfiguration Monastery in Ellwood City, PA. A donation for the Monastery will be accepted. After this, we will have a reception in honor of our guests, including artist Liliana Ceterchi of Romania. Following there will be a dramatic enacting of the life of our famous Princess-Nun, subtitled in English. We hope you will join us. A free will collection will be taken at the end to show our gratitude to the visiting artists. September th Parish Anniversary Dinner. 2018, Episcopate Congress News The delegates of 105 Romanian Orthodox parishes in the USA and Canada assembled last week, Sep. 6-8, in the annual congress of the Romanian Orthodox Episcopate of America, at Grass Lake, Michigan. The meetings were presided by His Eminence Archbishop Nathaniel. We were honored by the presence of His Beatitude Primate Metropolitan Tikhon of the Orthodox Church in America and Archbishops Benjamin of San Francisco as well as Archbishop Michael of New Jersey. The clergy held their annual conference Thursday, September 6 in the Romanian Heritage Center. The works of the congress were held Friday, Sep. 7 and started with a Te-Deum Service. Our parish was represented by Fr. R. Grama and Cristian Spanu. Nick Avramaut and George Cantor were also there representing the Orthodox Brotherhood, U.S.A.. This was the 80 th celebration of the Vatra dedication. On this occasion an outstanding pictorial album was printed, with a text by Ab. Nathaniel and the expert editing of John Lazar. During the Clergy Conference, two books were presented, one by Fr. Remus Grama and one by Fr. Lapuste. The weekend was crowned by the bringing of the Weeping Icon of Mother of God of Hawaii, that drew hundreds of faithful from Cleveland and other parishes. The Metropolitan Tikhon and visiting hierarchs bestowed the order of St. Herman on His Em. Archbishop Nathaniel for his service in R.O.E.A. and O.C.A. for 38 years as Hierarch and over 52 as a Priest. In turn, the Episcopate honored two staff members for their service: Mark Chestnut and David Oancea, who served.

5 Hristos si Copiii September 23, 2018 After the Holy Communion In the AROY Room Mrs. Ioana Dincă, the AROY Adult Coordinator invites all 6th to 12th grade students for a short meeting in the AROY Room after the Holy Communion. This meeting is to get reorganized, as the past Student Coordinator, Diana Fekete, left for college, so please come up with nominations for the Student Coordinator. The election date will be established during this meeting. We encourage all students to participate to this meeting and congratulate Mrs. Dincă for her initiative. Am început iarăși școala duminicală, dar mulţi părinți încă nu și-au adus copiii la cursuri. Asta înseamnă că nu i-au adus nici la Sfânta Liturghie. Acest lucru m-a întristat atât pe mine cât și pe profesoarele care își dăruiesc timpul și energia ca să împărtășim pe Hristos celor tineri. Mi-am mărturisit durerea înaintea Domnului, iar El a repetat chemarea: Lăsați copiii și nu-i opriți să vină la Mine, că a unora ca aceștia este împărătia cerurilor (Matei 19, 14). Recitind chemarea Lui, constat că El știe că nu copiii, ci părinții sunt de vină. De aceea, El îi îndeamnă pe părinți, cu cuvintele: nu-i opriţi! Totodată, Iisus ne mai spune că împărăția cerurilor aparține celor care sunt ca și acești prunci. Noi toți suntem chemați să fim ca și ei. Așadar, noi, parohia, avem nevoie să aducem pe copii atât la rugăciune, cât și la învățarea Cuvântului lui Dumnezeu. De ce? Pentru că doar nu adulții îi învață pe prunci, ci și cei mari învață la rândul lor din curăția și evalvia copiilor. Deci, aducând pe copii la școală, noi săvârșim o mare lucrare a Sfintei Biserici: educăm și modelăm sufletește atât pe cei mici, dar prin ei - și pe cei mari! De altfel, înaintea lui Dumnezeu noi toți rămânem veșnic: copii. Noi suntem încredințați că în afara Bisericii nu există mântuire. Deci, de vreme ce Hristos este calea, adevărul și viața, haideți să rămânem în El și El va rămâne în noi. El ne luminează mintea și inima, dăruindu-ne capaciatea de a-l cunoaște și de a-l iubi. Această abilitate se dezvoltă doar în biserică, la făclia candelei, în cântarea rugăciunii și în acultarea Cuvântului care, astfel, este sădit în sufletul nostru. Deci, să nu-i oprim pe copiii pe care deja i-am dăruit lui Hristos, prin Sfântul Botez! Atunci, noi am făcut o făgăduință: adică, i-am împreunat pe aceștia cu Hristos! Împiedicându-i, acum, să vină la biserică și la școală este ca și cum ne-am retrage promisiunea dată. Întrucât știm că nu este așa, vă chem pe toți să vă deșteptați spiritual, alături de pruncii pe care vi i-a dat Dumnezeu! Numai astfel, lucrarea Duhului Sfânt se va săvârși deplin, pruncii vor crește sufletește sănătoși, iar noi ne vom împlini datoria de adevărați creștini. Dacă, în schimb, vom rămâne la o credința fără fapte, toată biserica va suferi, iar primele victime vor fii copiii pe care cu toții îi iubim atât de mult. Mântuiește, Doamne, pe copiii noștri, iar pe noi, ajută-ne să fim curați ca și ei! Pr. Remus Grama

6 WORDS after SUNDAY SCHOOL TEACHERS & PARENTS CLUB MEETING: This past week, our Sunday School Teachers and Father Grama met and discussed the curriculum and the activities for this first semester. At the meeting were present 11 teachers who came up with very good class activities and extra curriculum activities. They only need for the students to attend the class with consistance. This is why, we are urging the parents to bring their children to school. Unfortunately, this Sunday, September 16, some of the teachers and students are involved in the ONE WORLD DAY activity that will take place at the CLEVELAND CULTURAL GARDENS (Romanian Cultural Garden), and the classes will be combined. Two teachers will be taking care of getting the students in their classroom. FOR THOSE ATTENDING THE ONE WORLD DAY EVENT, PLEASE SEE THE DIRECTIONS TO THE CLOSEST PARKING LOT TO OUR GARDEN Thank you very much for your understanding and we hope to get as many students as children were baptized in this church.
