We honour the Cree and Métis people for whom this place has been a homeland for thousands of years. We respect the sacredness of our home and the ground on which we walk and we are grateful to gather here in peace and hope. 2 -2- together, the church, the people of God. God does great things; we pay attention and delight in all God s works. God acts with honour, with greatest dignity and justice that endures forever. God is well-known for all the wonderful deeds, of mercy and graciousness. God remembers the covenant, provides, nurtures, shelters. God is faithful, just, and trustworthy. God s way of love endures forever; it will be lived with faithfulness and dignity. Holy is the name of God. Awe of God is the beginning of wisdom, praise for God will last forever. Amen. HYMN (VU 402) We Are One PRAYER FOR GUIDANCE: (in unison) God, sometimes we are not careful in the way we live; we act without wisdom, let wickedness rule our way. We are sorry for our foolishness. Pause. God, sometimes we fill ourselves with anything but your Spirit, our singing is off-key, and we can become drunk on success, anger, greed, or pride we are sorry for our self-indulgence. Pause. WORDS OF ASSURANCE: Good news, my friends, good news! God s spirit will fill you anew, and Wisdom will show you the way. PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE: We yearn for your wisdom, God, in many places around the world: at tables of negotiation to resolve conflict or agree on fair arrangements for trade; in war zones and at borders, responding to threat, retreat, civilians seeking refuge. We yearn for your wisdom, God, as we care for Earth; in the actions of nations, corporations, businesses, groups, individuals; in the choices to exploit and take what we want, rather than measure our need for enough. We yearn for your wisdom, God, in the houses of parliament and with those who govern our nation; in courtrooms and police stations, in government departments and policy rooms, agencies and service providers. We yearn for your wisdom, God, in your church, here in our congregation, in our denomination and all traditions of Christian faith; between Christians and those of other faiths and none; between the church and community and state. We yearn for wisdom, God, in our own lives; in our decisions, large and small, in our relationships; in the tasks of our every day, our work and rest and play.
