3 Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome to Sacred Heart Church! Happy Memorial Day Weekend! Thanks for joining our worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the Feast of the Most Holy Trinity. Your presence and prayerful participation enrich all who gather. May the God we know as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit guide us always. In today s Gospel, Jesus sends the disciples to carry on His ministry. They are to make disciples of all nations. They are to teach them to observe what Jesus has commanded. These new disciples are to be baptized in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. This baptismal formula speaks of a God revealed to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Paul, into today s second reading speaks of the children of God crying out Abba, Father, being led by the Spirit of God and being heirs with Christ. The mystery of the Holy Trinity reveals God as Father who is Creator, Son who is Savior, and Holy Spirit who inspires us. May our prayerful reflection on the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit provide insights into the mystery that is God. On this Monday, we as a nation celebrate Memorial Day. It s not like the 4th of July with its fireworks, concerts, and joyful picnics. Memorial Day reminds us of the sacrifices made by millions of men and women in keeping us safe and free. Memorial Day is a somber reminder of the tragedies of war as we remember those who have died in the service of their country. Here at Sacred Heart, the Catholic War Vets will join us at our 8:30 a.m. liturgy and will have a brief service after Mass remembering their comrades in battle. Catechists and Aides for PREP There is nothing more beautiful and spiritual rewarding than sharing our Catholic faith with children and young people. Please prayerfully consider volunteering as a catechist, an aide, an office helper in our Parish Religious Education Program. This past year we had high school students, retired teachers, and grandmothers helping in our program. As Pope Francis reminds us so often let s go out of our comfort zones and bring others to Christ. It is God who calls. We respond: Here I am, Lord, send me!
