I believe, it is a matter of faith to recognize equally and love all members of God s human family whatever their race, creed, color, gender, marital status, physical or mental capacity. I believe God s creation is good, beautiful, sacred and therefore to condemn any portion of God s creation is to condemn a portion of God. This is sin. I believe Jesus Christ came to us to free all people from sin and to make disciples-people willing to live Christ s discipline of love and justice for all. I believe the Holy Spirit is that power within us that gives us courage and stamina to face the truth and to live it, even to die for it, as Jesus did. Certified Christian Educators are persons certified and called to service in the ministry of education in congregations or councils. They shall have skills and training in biblical interpretation, Reformed theology, worship and sacraments, human development, faith development, religious educational theory and practice, and the polity, programs, and mission of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Joshua will be officially recognized by the Presbytery of Detroit at its meeting on Saturday, March 10. We hold in our prayers: [Names provided in print edition.] We also hold in prayer those impacted by the hurricanes that hit Texas, Florida and Puerto Rico, the earthquakes in Mexico, the wild fires and mud slides in California and the tragic deaths because of gun violence and terrorism, as well as those who put themselves in harm s way to assist them. Please join Pastor Eddie, on Tuesday mornings at 10:00 a.m., beginning this Tuesday, Feb. 13, and/or Rev. Craig Aue on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. as we embark on The Journey to Jerusalem based on the book of the same name written by John Pritchard that recounts the story of Jesus last days. You ve only missed one of the six study dates. The classes meet in room 207 on the 2nd floor; the Tuesday classes concludes on March 20 and the Sunday class ends on March 25. A few books are still available in the church office; a donation of $8.40 per book is welcome to offset the cost. Holy Week Services & Easter Worship: Starting with Palm Sunday and continuing through Easter day, follow the path of Jesus through a series of church services, each unique, and each an opportunity to go deeper in faith. The English word passion comes from the Latin word that means to suffer, the same word from which we derive the English word patient. Thursday, March 29 Taizé Maundy Thursday: Ritual of Hand Washing and The Sacrament of Holy 7:00 p.m. Designed to help us remember the Last Supper-The Passover Meal as an expression of Christ s love for us through short songs followed by scripture readings and silence. Taizé is a contemplative service that encourages people to rest in God, with candle and dim lights, moments for meditation and unique music. Friday, March 30 Good 12 noon. Ecumenical service at St. John s Lutheran, Gill Rd, Farmington Hills, MI Sunday, April 1 Easter/Resurrection a.m. and an Easter Taizé Prayer 7:00 p.m. Both services will offer the Sacrament of Holy Communion. Following the 10:00 a.m. service, join us for breakfast for all and an Easter egg hunt for children. 5

6 Neighborhood House needs phone volunteers. Neighborhood House is a local non-profit charitable organization affiliated with the Farmington Area Goodfellows that provides assistance to needy families and individuals within our local community with help paying rent and utility bills, food from its food pantry, counseling services referrals, and referrals to other resources in the area that can provide help to those in need. Training will be provided to the phone volunteers, and the volunteer's phone time will be tailored to fit the volunteer's schedule and availability. Volunteering is easy with phone calls automatically forwarded to the volunteer's phone (no information of any kind about the volunteer or their phone number is identified) when no one is in at the Neighborhood House office to take calls. Phone volunteers take down basic information from the calls they receive and forward this to the Neighborhood House Client Support Specialist who then follows up on the phone call. If you are interested in volunteering or have any questions about volunteering, please contact the Neighborhood House office at The Cupboard is bare! Just in the middle of flu season, Neighborhood House is running out of supplies to help with cleaning. In early March we will collect paper products for Neighborhood House to supplement the cleaning supplies we collected earlier this month.
