Question of the Week For your consideration, for discussion with your family and friends, over brunch, on the bus, in the car, to help you take the Sunday Gospel with you after you leave the church building How do you experience being sent by Jesus? Spiritual Direction What is it? Spiritual direction is a way of learning to discern what God is doing in our lives. It is a way of trying to understand what s it all about? when it comes to those life questions we all have. We are blessed to have as a part of our community Sr. Paul Teresa, SA, a Franciscan Sister of the Atonement, who would like to begin to offer her gift of spiritual direction to interested parishioners. Is God inviting you to come and know God better? Do you want to know more? Next Sunday April 10 Sr. Paul Teresa will explain more about spiritual direction at our 11am Mass. Come & see! Filled with Gratitude Dear Parishioners, How can we say thank you enough to each of you who worked so diligently to make our Holy Week and Easter Celebrations truly prayerful and amazingly joy filled? Acolytes, altar servers, lectors, hospitality folks, musicians, singers, cantors, Eucharistic ministers: you practiced, prepared and ministered to us with joy. We are so grateful. A special word of thanks to Willie and Kathy who do amazing work behind the scenes to make sure everything goes smoothly when we enter into our worship. To all of you, for all your hard work and gracious service, we say thank you! A Recognition and Occasion of Pride for St Francis de Sales On Sunday April 3, our pastoral associate Jayne Porcelli will be recognized by the Archdiocese of NY for her work and her studies in the Rite of Christian Initiation over the past 27 (!!) years. She has completed a process of study and supervision in the last three years that has led to her receiving an award of certification as a Director of the Rite of Christian Initiation. The RCIA is the process by which we welcome new members into our church family. It is a process of formation and sharing community with others as well as learning more about our Catholic faith. What is notable about this award for both Jayne and our St Francis de Sales parish is that Jayne is the very first person in the Archdiocese to receive this recognition. We are proud of Jayne for this accomplishment and proud to have her as part of our SFDS family. Second Collection There is a second collection on April 10, 2016 for Military Services, USA,

Iniciativa de FE en el Hogar Estamos reclutando VOLUNTARIOS para trabajar con nosotros en llevar historias e instruccion de fe a las familias con ninos de 5-12 anos en veinte cuadras del Este de Harlem, de la calle 100 a la calle 106. Ven a conocer a nuestro equipo y acompananos en las visitas a domicile, en su mayoria familias hispanas (minetras Espanol no es escencial, seria muy util). Esperamos hacer la mayor parte de nuestras visitas los Viernes entre 4-7pm, pero podemos ser flexibles con el horario. Si usted desea, puede traer a sus hijos. The team plays in the Saints and Sinners League, which organizes a Catholic mission league where all are invited to enjoy in Catholic fellowship and softball sportsmanship. We play neighboring churches like Our Lady of Good Counsel, St. Patrick s Cathedral, Holy Trinity and more right here in Central Park on Saturday afternoons. All teams play for charity. Thereafter team members share in post-game fellowship and fun at our sponsor bar, the Gael Pub. This is a great opportunity for those new to the city to meet new people and enjoy the unique experience of playing ball in Central Park. Some experience is recommended, but not necessary. Retreat Next Sunday April 10 our 6pm Mass community will welcome Fr Anthony SooHoo, SJ and some of the young adult team leaders from CharisNYC---a retreat program designed for and run by young adult Catholics (20s & 30s) in NYC. They will share with us some of their experiences of finding God in the busy-ness of our city life and share with us an invitation to join them on retreat the weekend of April We d love to have many of our parishioners to welcome them and learn more about how we may collaborate together in the days to come.
