Born around AD 316, shortly after Edict of Milan legalized religious toleration in Roman Empire, in hat is today Hungary (at that time Roman province of Pannonia). His parents ere pagans, his Far as an officer in Roman Army. Rising through ranks led to Martin s far to be reassigned to Italy. It as re that Martin as raised. Despite his parents suspiciousness of Christians, Martin had a strong attraction to Catholic Faith from a young age. This led him to knock on door of a Church take instruction as a catechumen at age of 10. He began to make time for prayer delighted in talking about mysteries of faith. Martin also began to entertain idea of living life of a desert hermit. At age of 15, still not yet baptized, Martin as forced to oin Roman Army, re, sought to live as close to a monastic life as he could giving aay his pay to poor, living humbly, shining his servant s boots, instead of or ay around. It as during this time that hat is probably most famous story concerning Martin s life took place. While on garrison duty at Amiens on cold inter day, Martin passed through gate ith some or solders. Lying on ground as a poor beggar, earing little more than rags, shivering in cold. Martin took his heavy military cloak cleaved it in to, giving half to poor man. That night in a dream, Martin sa Jesus surrounded by angels, in dream Jesus as earing half a cloak that he had given to freezing beggar. Speaking to angels Jesus said: See! This is mantle that Martin, yet a catechumen, gave me. Upon aakening, Martin ent to Church asked to be baptized. Martin ould serve in army for a couple more years, but hen a conflict arose, Martin refused to take up sord, instead offered to st before enemy on battle field ithout sord or armor. His refusal to fight as seen as coardice his ish as granted. The enemy, hoever, did not attack, but instead negotiated for peace Martin as discharged from army. Martin eventually sought out Bishop ologian St. Hilary of Poitiers, from hom he learned much. At this time, he also traveled home to see his parents, as even able to convert his mor to Catholic Faith. While at home, though, St. Hilary had provoked ire of Arians (heretics ho deny that Jesus is God) found himself exiled, preventing Martin from returning. So, Martin spent next fe years living an ascetic life, until he as finally able to meet up ith St. Hilary again around AD 360. Hilary gave Martin some l, here he established a monastery, for about 10 years he preached, orked miracles, developed a reputation for great holiness. When nearby Bishop of Tours died, people anted holy man Martin to be ir next Bishop, but kne he ould never accept. So, y tricked him by telling him that re as someone ho as sick hom he needed to visit. When he came to city, crods surrounded him ould not let him leave until he accepted consecration as ir bishop. As Bishop, Martin continued to live as a simple ascetic monk, drove pagan practices from his diocese by traveling from house to house to speak about true faith, tended to needs of his people ider affairs of region (during this time administration of Roman Empire as disintegrating due to outside invasion, so Bishop became not only spiritual authority, but secular one as ell). Saint Martin of Tours died around AD 397.

Victims may be blackmailed by traffickers using victims status as an undocumented alien or ir participation in an illegal industry. By threatening to report m to la enforcement or immigration officials, traffickers keep victims compliant. People ho are trafficked often come from unstable economically devastated places as traffickers frequently identify vulnerable populations characterized by oppression, high rates of illiteracy, little social mobility fe economic opportunities.
