Anointing: If you wish to receive an anointing please call the Parish Office: (952) Communion for the Homebound: When we come together to pray at our Eucharistic liturgy, we do not forget the members of our community who are unable to be with us because of ill health. We remember them in our prayers, and we wish to include them in our Holy Communion. Members of our community bring the Blessed Sacrament to them to comfort them and to unite us in the Eucharist. We are not always aware of those who have this need. Please call the Parish Office to let us know if you or a member of your family would like to have Holy Communion brought to them. That way we can schedule a time for our ministers to visit and bring the Sacrament. Hospital, Nursing Home, Homebound Visits: Churches are no longer notified by hospitals or nursing homes when a parishioner is admitted unless the family has requested it. 3 Last Chance Confessions this Tuesday, April 16 at St. Nicholas We ll have confessions this Tuesday evening at St. Nicholas from 6:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. If you haven t yet had a chance to celebrate this sacrament, this is a great opportunity to do so before we begin the solemn liturgies of Holy Week. Passion Play at St. Mark s Kudos to parishioner Tom Altman who most excellently narrated the Passion play at St. Mark s Church in Shakopee. A packed church was drawn deep into the Passion of our Lord with music, drama, and special lighting. Fr. Erik Lundgren took on the role of Jesus and one could easily feel the sufferings of our Lord with his convincing portrayal of Jesus journey of the Cross. St. Victoria Youth Visit to St. Nicholas Prayer Garden On Wednesday, April 3, about 75 junior and senior high youth from St. Victoria came to the prayer garden at St. Nicholas. The creatively arranged evening had the youth going from station to station with activities specific for each station. The youth ministry team developed the activities and are sharing them with both GA and St. Nicholas so that we can do the same with our youth. Thanks GA School PTO! Our school PTO put on an ice-cream social with an egg hunt last Sunday that was very well attended by families with small children. Everyone had a wonderful time and it was a great way to connect with young families both within and from beyond our parish. Thanks PTO! Unplanned Pro-Life Movie I was glad that I was able to get to the film Unplanned this past week. I found it very powerful, and extremely well done. It can be difficult to watch at times because of the gruesome nature of abortion that it exposes, but the conclusion of the film is incredibly uplifting and hopeful. The film is based on the true life story of Abbey Johnson who was once the director of an abortion clinic until the horrors of it led her to quit the abortion industry and become a strong pro-life advocate. It s rated R because of the serious matter that it documents, but it really doesn t deserve that rating. The Christian makers of the film wanted it to be seen especially by teens. Teens under 17 can go if a parent is with them, or buys the ticket for them. Check the listings to see where it is still playing. Invite someone for Easter! Please invite someone to come to or St. Nicholas for Holy Week and Easter. Now is the perfect time to invite someone whom you may know who has been away from the Church for a while. Everyone loves Easter (even those who struggle with faith), because it speaks to the greatest hope and desire that any person can have ETERNAL LIFE! Have a Blessed Holy Week! Fr. In bringing the Eucharist, we are also telling them that they are still an active and important part of our Parish community, and that the rest of the Community is one with them, and are praying for them. Homebound Ministers typically go out in teams of two, but you are also welcome to do this ministry as a family. Bringing the Eucharist to the Homebound is like being the hands and feet of Christ. It will be taken to The RAK (Random Acts of Kindness) the new Thrift Shop in Chaska. Take some time to sort through your closets and drawers and fill a bag with things that you don't need any longer. Gospel Corner April 14, 2019 Luke 22: 14-23:56 Jesus Passion and Death Jesus goes into Jerusalem to suffer His Passion and Crucifixion. This was always part of God s plan for our salvation. While it is heartbreaking, we may find comfort in knowing that Jesus chose to lay down his life to save us. QUESTION OF THE WEEK: How do you feel when you are judged by others? How can you avoid making judgments about others? FAMILY PRAYER: Lord, you suffered so much for us. Help us to be strong when we suffer and to unite our sufferings to yours. Greetings from Guardian Angels Catholic School! Will this winter ever end and spring begin??? We all have unanswered questions that we ponder each day as we walk and talk with God.

It isn t always natural or second nature for our youth to pray to God all throughout their day.

Often when a child is struggling or has a conflict we need to take a moment to breath in God s guidance and wisdom before we speak.

It s what we do, how we face it, that brings us either closer or farther away from God. Here at GA our staff works daily with our students to breathe, pray & reflect before they respond.

6 Greetings from Guardian Angels Catholic School! Will this winter ever end and spring begin??? We all have unanswered questions that we ponder each day as we walk and talk with God. Our day at begins with prayer together. Learning to reach out to God with our questions, worries and thanksgivings is one of our many goals. It isn t always natural or second nature for our youth to pray to God all throughout their day. It is important for us to coach, guide and be examples of how we develop a prayerful relationship with God. Often when a child is struggling or has a conflict we need to take a moment to breath in God s guidance and wisdom before we speak. It s amazing how opening with prayer will set the tone of the conversation. God tells us we will have adversity in our lives. It s what we do, how we face it, that brings us either closer or farther away from God. Here at GA our staff works daily with our students to breathe, pray & reflect before they respond. Conflicts will happen. They give us opportunities to grow and learn with God by our side if we are taught to ask for God s guidance. A huge thank you goes out to the Knights of Columbus for their support and generous donation to our GA Booster Club. The KCs are excellent role models of sharing our God given gifts with other in community. We are blessed in so many ways to have them part of our GA community. We continue to receive support for the CSCOE matching grant. We are now at $25,404. Please continue to pray for the growth and development of our parish and school. Together we can teach our youth to love and serve our Lord. God bless! - Sue Lovegreen, Principal Tanzania Collection Results Thank you to all who so generously gave to the second collection ($ , $ St. Nicholas) last week for the work of Fr. Augustine, a good friend of Fr. Deziel's. The monies will go to the school in their village of Mtamba and help feed the children, provide them with uniforms and to pay for staff that is needed 24/7 to help educate and care for the children. There are estimated to be around 3,000 AIDS orphans in the area who have lost one or both parents to that terrible disease. From humble beginnings, Fr. Augustine not only started a school, but it now goes up to 8th grade and is considered one of the best schools in the whole country of Tanzania. If you didn't have a chance to give last week and would like to, you can still make out a check to or St. Nicholas and we will send it to Fr. Augustine! The Daughters of Isabella want to thank the men who served and made the breakfast for us. It was delicious! Can you help out? We are looking for adult individuals to commit to one week a month to mowing the GA School and Church lawns and the campus at St. Nicholas. We have a riding lawn mower and a self-propelled push mower on site to use. Please call the Parish Office at to volunteer or for questions. To single-handedly mow the entire campus with a push mower it takes 3 hours. Grab a helper and the job is half the work and twice the fun! Thank you to all who have filled a Rice Bowl for Catholic Relief Services. You may return them to church during any Mass on Holy Week; they will be collected in a basket in the back of church. Your almsgiving during Lent is greatly appreciated and will make a difference in our country and around the world.
